WHO WE ARE

After a re-brand from Foothills Elite AAA in 2021, the foundation of the program was created in 1995.  Our mandate for the Phantoms Hockey Academy is to provide elite hockey developmental training and coaching for both male and female athletes.  This is executed by competing in some of the top tournaments in North America and against some of the top players from around the globe.  We guide our players with the simple intention; they should leave the rink with increased skills on the ice and in life through; INTEGRITY, TEAMWORK, PASSION, and DEVELOPMENT.  These 4 simple words are the cornerstone from which we build our program.  Utilizing these values and emulation, their message creates a positive environment where future leaders are created.

Our coaching staff and executive leadership have graduated more players to the NHL, WHL, AJHL, CIS & Division 1 than any other single program in Western Canada.  Our alums have played for multiple NHL teams, every WHL team and along with numerous CIS & USA Division 1 College and Universities.

A Long Tradition of Developing Great Hockey Players

Phantoms Hockey Academy has multiple goals for each of our elite teams. The most important goal is for all of the players to have an enjoyable, fun-filled season and a great hockey-playing experience.  The players and families that have come with us in the past have had a great time at the rink as well as away from the rink. An additional goal is that every player learns something from their coaches and teammates. This is executed with a laser focus to build and develop as strong a team as possible that can compete and ultimately win at the Elite/AAA level.

Our staff scouts multiple games each season and our initial conditional selections are based on the ongoing evaluations of those games.  In addition, continued evaluations from our internal Phantom Academy teams, open ID skates and recommendations we get from trusted, independent sources will assist in developing players for our prospect camps.  Players will earn an invitation to our Academy by their elite level of play on the ice along with their superior values and integrity in their communities.  We do not get to see every team or every player, so we choose from the players we see and the ones we feel deserve an invitation.

The makeup of our team is concentrated with players that live within our geographical footprint (South Central Alberta) but we have increasingly expanded the area from which we draw our players.  While we focus on South Central Alberta, we will go "out of area" to add quality players to our team.
