Who we are:

Founded with four teams in 2007, the NWIBL has grown to become Portland, OR metro area's premiere Adult Baseball League. The 2026 season included 26 teams and nearly 300 games played across six local fields.

We are gearing up for a great season in 2027, possibly adding a few new teams and locations for games. If you or somebody you know would be interested in joining us, please share this page with them so they can register to join an existing team or create a new team.

FAQ's:

Wait, this is softball right?
No, this is baseball! Wood bats, pine tar, helmets, cleats, breaking balls, umpires. America's pastime.

When is the season?
We try to start games in April (weather permitting!) and play the regular season games through August, with playoffs in August-September.

How many games per week?
It is most common for each team to play one game per week. Occaisionally there will be two.

How many games are there?
Each league has a regular season of 14-16 games, plus additional games for playoffs.

Are there are multiple leagues?
We currently have 3 leagues:

  • 18 and older
  • 30 and older (Weeknight games)
  • 30 and older (Sunday games)

There are plenty of guys who are older than 30 playing in the 18+ league, if that's your preference. We are interested in starting another league (either 45+ or 55+) and we'd love to hear from you if you're interested in playing.

I'm pretty busy, what if I can't make it to some games?
We're all busy, but we make it work. We have no games on the following weekends: Mother's Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, and Labor Day. All managers build their rosters assuming guys will miss games due to family trips, summer vacations, camping trips, weddings, etc.

How do I join a team?
Every year we host a tryout that is open to the public. Teams will be present to draft attendees who play positions that they need filled. Click here to register for the tryouts & draft.

Why is there a cost for tryouts?
We do our best to keep the costs as low as possible. Unfortunately, the NWIBL doesn't own fields. We have to rent the field, buy baseballs, cover fees for maintenance and staff, etc.

Why isn't there enough room for everyone to play?
NWIBL plays all games at local parks and highschool fields. Reservations for these fields are very competitive and youth sports are priortized over adult sports. Since we have limited access to fields for scheduling games, we are unable to include everyone we'd like to.

What if I don't get drafted?
In 2026, only about 1/3rd of the players present at the tryouts got drafted. Many of the others formed their own, new team. However, there were many players at the tryout that were neither drafted nor included on the expansion team, and unfortunately were unable to play.

How competitive is it?
Best guess is that >90% of players in the NWIBL played baseball at the highschool level and ~30% played at a higher level (college, independent, affiliated or international leagues).

What if I can't make it to the tryouts?
If you can't make it to the tryout, please contact us separately in an email. Tell us a bit about yourself, your baseball experience and we will help you find a team.

Can I start a new team (instead of joining an existing one)?
Some offsesons there are openings for new teams, sometimes there are not. If you are interested in creating a new team, please contact us to let us know you're interested in adding a team and we'll walk you through it.

What does it cost to join the NWIBL?
Individual players do not pay the NWIBL. The NWIBL collects a single payment from the manager of each team, who is responsible for collecting payments from individual players.  After you join a team, you will work out the costs for jerseys, hats, and league fees with the manager of your team.

Where are the games typically played?
We play games at a number of fields around the area, including:
- Walker Stadium (Portland Pickles)
- Sckavone Stadium (Portland)
- Hillsboro Stadium (former field of the Hops)
- Tualatin Hills Parks & Rec District (Beaverton)
- Luke Jensen Sports Park (Vancouver)
- Jesuit Highschool (Beaverton)

We're always looking for more locations to host games. If you have access to a baseball field and would like to partner with the NWIBL, please contact us.
