MYBI Foundation is a Calgary-based community initiative raising funds and awareness for mental health through connection-driven events.
In 2021, during one of the hardest seasons of his life, Kraig Leochko and a close friend made a simple pact:
Every morning, they would get up.
Make their bed.
Send a photo.
That was it.
No speeches.
No big declarations.
Just proof that they were still showing up.
What started as accountability became connection. What felt small became meaningful. What seemed ordinary became special.
And from that simple act, Make Your Bed Invitational — MYBI — was born.
Later that year, Kraig and his friend created the first official Make Your Bed Invitational in Calgary — a one-on-one sporting challenge rooted in friendship, competition, laughter, and carving out intentional time for the people you love.
It wasn’t about sport.
It was about showing up for each other.
It was about connection.
It was about making time — no matter how busy life gets.
The inaugural MYBI took place in 2021.
In December 2023, Kraig passed away.
But what he built didn’t end.
To honour his love for community, connection, competition and bringing people together, The MYBI Foundation was created in his memory.
Mental health struggles are complex. And they don’t always disappear when things start to look better.
If one moment makes a difference for one person — it’s worth it.
MYBI exists to remind people that:
Even when things appear to be improving, struggles don’t always end.
Checking in matters.
Showing up matters.
Being present matters.
You never know what someone may be carrying. And sometimes, simply sitting beside someone in it is enough.
And if you are struggling — let someone in.
We keep it simple: maximize impact, minimize overhead, and support organizations doing measurable work.
In just two years, MYBI has raised over $17,000 for mental health initiatives — with less than 15% allocated toward event costs.
We are intentional about where funds go, aligning with organizations that are making measurable, meaningful impact.
With nonprofit status now confirmed, MYBI is preparing to expand annual impact, deepen community support, and build long-term initiatives focused on prevention and connection.
Our events welcome individuals of all ages.
Whether you want to compete, volunteer, donate, step on stage, or simply share a laugh with someone new — MYBI is an inclusive space built on connection.
We focus on prevention and connection.
Rather than waiting for moments of crisis, we create opportunities where people feel supported and comfortable reaching out.
At an event.
During a conversation.
Or simply in knowing they are not alone.
“There is hope, even when your brain tells you there isn’t.” — John Green
