Miller Beach Wiffle League Rules

1. Equipment:

   - Use Wiffle perforated plastic balls and official Wiffle Ball bats.

   - Players must wear flat shoes, no spikes, cleats or high heels.

2. Field Dimensions and Hitting:

   - Poncin Park's pitching mound is approximately 30 feet from home plate.

   - The minimum distance for a hit will be past the shed and will be marked with a line.

   - Single markers are anything that lands beyond the shed but before the line between 1st and 2nd base.

   - Doubles are any ball that lands between the line mentioned above and 2nd base.

   - Triples are any ball that lands beyond second base to the wall.

   - A home run is a ball hit over the wall.

3. Teams and Players:

   - A team consists of a minimum of three players and a maximum of six players.

   - Only (5) players may play the field. The other must DH. If the player is a DH they may not play the field or pitch in that game.

   - The DH must be designated before the start of the game, and their position in the batting order must be specified.

4. Game Structure:

   - The game consists of five innings, with both teams taking turns at bat and in the field.

   - Three outs retire the side per inning.

   - If the game ends in a tie after five innings, an overtime inning is played.

   - In the overtime inning, each team has an opportunity to bat and score runs.

   - If neither team scores in the overtime inning, the game is recorded as a tie.

5. Tournament Tiebreaker:

   - In tournament play, if a game ends in a tie after the overtime inning, a coin toss will be used to decide the winner.

   - The team that wins the coin toss will be declared the winner of the tie game.

6. Outs:

   - The batter can be called out in three ways:

     1. The batter strikes out if they swing at a pitched ball and do not foul tip the third strike.

     2. Fly balls caught in fair or foul territory result in an out.

     3. Ground balls caught while the ball is in motion in fair territory result in an out.

   - Bunting is not allowed, and batters cannot obtain a base on balls.

   - Balls can be played off of ANY natural feature of the park, but not the shed.

   - Any ball caught in a natural obstruction (tree or bush) in fair territory will be ruled a ground rule double.

7. Scoring:

   - The bases are determined by where the ball lands, regardless of how it rolls or bounces.

   - For example, if a ball is hit as a grounder from the start and reaches the double area, it is ruled as a single because it touched the ground in the single area.

   - Single markers are anything that lands beyond the shed but before the line between 1st and 2nd base.

   - Doubles are any ball that lands between the line mentioned above and 2nd base.

   - Triples are any ball that lands beyond second base to the wall.

   - Balls hit over the wall in fair territory are considered home runs.

   - Balls played off natural features can be caught in the air for an out.

8. Beer Rules:

   - If players choose to drink on the field, their beer is in play.

   - If a batter hits someone's beer with the ball, they are awarded an automatic triple.

   - Throwing your beer at the ball to prevent a hit or home run is not allowed.

9. Pitching Rules:

   - Pitchers must make an effort to throw hittable pitches in co-ed/kids games.

   - No pitch shall be thrown over 40 MPH.

   - In co-ed games, the maximum number of innings for a single pitcher in any game is 2.

   - Once a pitcher has been removed from the mound during a game, he/she cannot pitch again in that game unless it goes into extra innings.

10. Baserunning:

   - Imaginary runners are used to track baserunning progress.

   - A batter earns 1 imaginary base on a single, 2 imaginary bases on a double, and 3 imaginary bases on a triple.

   - Baserunners advance based on the following guidelines:

     - A runner on 1st base advances one base on a single, 2 bases on a double, and scores on a triple.

     - A runner on 2nd base scores on a single, double, or triple.

     - A runner on 3rd base scores on any hit.

Note: It's important to consider the abilities and skill levels of the players when enforcing these rules to ensure a fun and enjoyable experience for everyone involved.
