Recruiting for Playoffs

During playoffs, teams who will have less than 9 players may recruit additional player(s) up to a total of 9. The assigned players will be taken starting from the spares list then extended to the full registration list if no player is found from the spares list. Any players recruited for playoff games require the approval of the executive. The recruited player(s) must be at a similar level as the player being replaced. Playoff schedule and player availability will also be a factor in selecting recruits during playoffs.

Teams who have at least 9 players, but not a pitcher, may request that the executive assign a pitcher to their team. The assigned pitcher will only field as pitcher and will not bat for the team.

Playoff Games

During the round robin, home and away will be determined by a coin toss (or equivalent); after the round robin, teams will be re-seeded and the higher seeded team will choose if they want to be home or away.
Round robin games that get rained out will be considered a tie and given a score of 0-0.
Championship bracket games that get rained out ☔ will be played on Sunday, Sept 21st at Carlton Park.
No games will be held on Friday, Sept 19^th

Thursday August 21/25 Update

Hello LOURL ladies,

Please find attached the 2025 Playoff Schedule format. (Via website - on 2025 LOURL Playoff Schedule - At a Glance Quick link)

As you may recall, at the AGM last year, an amendment to rule 4(c) was passed which now states that rain outs will not be made up, they will be considered a tie and a score of 0-0 recorded. As a result, we are able to include a full round robin in this year’s playoff schedule.

All Thursday night games will be played at Centennial South (our usual diamond) and Saturday games at Carlton Park - please see map on page 2 of the schedule.

A few things to note:

During the round robin, home and away will be determined by a coin toss (or equivalent); after the round robin, teams will be re-seeded and the higher seeded team will choose if they want to be home or away.

Round robin games that get rained out will be considered a tie and given a score of 0-0.

Championship bracket games that get rained out ☔ will be played on Sunday, Sept 21st at Carlton Park.

No games will be held on Friday, Sept 19^th

We will be playing for charity again this year, so please discuss as a team and advise the exec (by email to lourleague@gmail.com) which charity your team would like to play for.

Donation amounts will be awarded as follows:

Regular season 1st - $250

Playoffs:

1st - $250

2nd - $150

3rd/4th - $75 each (losers of games A & B)

5th/6th - $25 each (2 teams that don't make it to championship bracket)

After our final regular season games on Thursday, August 21st, teams will be seeded 1st - 6th and the round robin games in the playoff schedule will be populated with team names.

Good Evening Lourl Ladies,

Our season opener is around the corner (May 15th), you all should have heard from your captains. If you have not, please reach out and we'll make sure you know your team :)

This is also a reminder that we need each of you to please register with SPO by Friday May 2, 2025 so that we have our league insurance in place for the start of our season.

We will be holding an informal practice night on May 8th starting at 7pm. This will also double as a meet and greet, so dust off those cleats and gloves and come on out for some fun!!

January 31, 2025 Update - Welcome to the 2025 LOURL Season!

We hope you are as excited as we are to kick off planning our 2025 LOURL season. ?♥️

2025 LOURL Registration is officially open!

Early bird registration fee is $150 if received by MARCH 1st.

Registration fee after March 1st is $175.

We are still awaiting confirmation of the permit dates, but Playoff Weekend Dates are penciled in for September 19-21.

The Returning Player and New Player registration forms are attached to the distribution email - check your inbox!!

Both registration forms have drop down selections, so doing it online is easier, however, we do need a signed copy of the completed registration so please either sign/scan/email or drop off/mail to Jennifer Vandervelde.

Completed forms can be emailed to : lourleague@gmail.com or dropped off/mailed to Jennifer Vandervelde - 65 Burwell Cres, Markham, ON L3P 6T8.

Each year we present the Goodwill Goddess award to someone who embodies the spirit of our recreational league. Someone who goes above and beyond to help others, demonstrates integrity, inclusion and good sportsmanship.

2024 LOURL AGM

The AGM is your opportunity to have your say and provide valuable insights and suggestions to ensure our league continues to run smoothly. We encourage everyone to make best efforts to attend to ensure we have representation from the league.

There are several forms for submission of rule changes and/or updates to the constitution that you feel would be beneficial and provide additional clarity and value to the league. See website links for forms on home page.

Also included is the nomination form for the 2025 LOURL Executive. Every position is open for new nominees.

All changes/suggestions/nominations MUST be received in WRITING by Wednesday, October 9th. All proposed changes will be sent out to all LOURL members prior to the AGM.

If you are unable to attend the AGM, please complete the PROXY form attached and send to lourleague@gmail.com prior to the AGM

Amendments to the Constitution

The LOURL Constitution may only be amended by a majority vote of members present at General Meetings. The amendment(s) must be received by the LOURL Executive, in writing, TWO weeks before the LOURL General Meetings. Amendments must be in the form of a "resolution" and passed by a majority vote at the LOURL General Meeting.

Playoff Games
- Playoff games are 1½ hours in length. No new inning will start past 1 hour and 20 minutes. Once an inning has started it must be completed.

- If a round robin component occurs, teams will be reseeded after completion of the round robin. The higher seeded team will choose if they want to be home or away.
- Championship and Consolation games (depending on the season’s playoff format) will be a full 7 innings in length. Home team will be determined by the higher seeded team based on round robin results if it occurred or from regular season standings if no round robin takes place.

The 3 games that were postponed due to rain on June 20/24 will be played on July 18, 2024, on our originally scheduled FunNight/Social Night week.

To still reflect a social theme, there will be food and snacks available for all registered players!
