5U BLASTBALL - Children born in 2020 and 2021

Ages 3 - 5 ($130.00)

BlastBall provides an ideal entry level of play for the youngster who will go on to other advanced levels of the game. BlastBall is meant to put FUN in to the game of Baseball.
It is designed to generate fast-paced action, provide recreation and exercise, create enthusiasm and through simplicity, allow retention of young players in the game.
BlastBall teaches all five basic fundamentals of baseball…hitting, throwing, catching, running and fielding.
It is also just a ton of fun with fast and continuous action and simple rules.
The time commitment is one practice a week typically on Saturday mornings for about 45 minutes.

What will my player need to play? Comfy pants, athletic shoes, water bottle, glove (optional), (uniform shirt and hat will be provided).
SCHEDULE (subject to change): SATURDAYS 9:00 - 9:45

 7U RALLY CAP / T-BALL - Children born in 2018 and 2019
 Ages 5 - 7 ($170.00)

This year we are delighted to offer Baseball Canada's Rally Cap Program to 7U players.
We send three teams to the field for every session. One team takes a turn at bat with the coach pitching or in some cases a tee. One team plays defensively in the field and the third team is in the outfield completing that session's skill development task. The three teams rotate through each station once. (This is adaptable as the registration numbers increase.) They then complete the all-important Dragon Race to end the session. This is all done in 75 to 90 minutes with no opportunity of boredom setting in.

Time commitment is one development/practice a week (weeknight) and one weekend game (Saturday).

SCHEDULE (subject to change): WEDNESDAY PRACTICE 5:00-6:00, GAMES SATURDAYS 10:00 - 11:30

9U NOVICE - Children born in 2016 and 2017

Ages 7 - 9 ($230.00)
Players mostly play an in-house schedule so there is no travelling. The focus at Lions Baseball in the Novice Division is on skill development. The Novice division is the first age group in which players pitch. We do this on a modified basis by having player pitch for the first two innings and then use a pitching machine for the final two innings of our four-inning games.

Later in the season we may play some interlock games with other Greater Victoria Baseball Association (GVBA) parks and there are potentially some year-end tournaments that Lions Baseball would put together a "tournament team" for.
At the Novice level, base paths are set at 60 feet. Pitchers can pitch a maximum of 1 inning per game. No lead offs or stealing is allowed. Score is kept but we encourage players to just do their best and not worry about winning or losing.

Time Commitment is one development/practice a week (weeknight) and one weekend game (Saturday).

SCHEDULE* (subject to change): PRACTICE MON or WEDS 5:00-6:30, GAMES SATURDAYS 9-11:00 or 11-1:00
*Practice days will be consistent for your child, once teams have been filled -- games strts will vary week to week.

 11U MOSQUITO - Children born in 2014 and 2015
 Ages 9 - 11 ($270.00)
At the Mosquito level base paths are set at 60 feet, pitchers throw from 46 feet, and a regulation hard ball is used. No lead offs are allowed and players cannot steal until the ball crosses the plate. "Live" pitching is used throughout the 6 inning games.

Players will play an interlocking spring Mosquito A house season with teams from throughout the Greater Victoria Baseball Association (GVBA). This is the first age group of full-time player pitch. The 11U – Mosquito A house spring season will culminate with a playoff tournament to crown a GVBA City Champion in late June/Early July.

GVBA offers summer all-star opportunities at the Mosquito level comprised of players from throughout Victoria. These teams are tiered in AAA, AA and A (A is for first year players only) divisions and play a busy compact season from the end of June through the end of July with the hope of qualifying for the BC Minor Provincial championships in early August.

Lions Baseball also often offers a short Fall Ball Season with practices and games running September into early October.
Time commitment is generally three times a week – games/practices vary based on league game schedule.

PeeWee baseball rules are the way baseball is meant to be played, with runners able to lead off and pitchers needing to hold runnners on. We also play on a bigger field better suited to the age group. At this level of play, base paths are set at 70 feet, and pitchers throw from 48 feet. Stealing and lead offs are allowed and games are 7 innings long. Balks are called on pitchers and running to 1st on a dropped 3rd strike is allowed (if 1st base is unoccupied, OR if 1st base is occupied with 2 out).
