NSBSSA Board Meeting Minutes & Notes -  8/11/26

In attendance (7): Jay Zaslaw, Jeff Ruda, John Heim, Tim Mester, Mike Bavaro,
Arnie Traub, & Steve Lebo.

Not present (3): Harry Noga, Elmer Mason, & Wade Moran.

***In order to have a quorum for this board meeting, Jeff Ruda called Harry Noga and Elmer Mason, who both agreed that ALL board members present at THIS meeting may vote on proposals.

1) There were 2 proposals discussed for Fall 2026 drafting order:

A) Draft order will be determined by order of finish (last to first) of the spring 2026 regular season.
B) Draft order will be determined by the last 4 finishers blind draw to pick spots 1 thru 4,

and then by the top 4 finishers blind draw to pick spots 5 thru 8.

Option A was passed (5-1 in favor).

Fall 2026 draft order - Team’s regular season record incl. tiebreakers (in brackets):
1) Pirates (1-13)
2) Red Sox (5-9)
3) Orioles (7-7)
4) Royals (7-7)
5) Rockies (7-7)
6) Tigers (8-6)
7) Diamondbacks (9-5)
8) Mets (10-3)

2) Discussed the City of NSB Parks & Rec allowing us now only 2.5 hours each night with a later start time of 7pm for the first game. Another factor is that the field lights will start being dimmed at 9:15pm and turned off at 9:35pm.

It was proposed that each game will be timed at 55 minutes each. When the alarm signals the 55th minute, the next inning will become the final inning / open inning. Games CAN end in a TIE. Managers will urge their teams to warm up on the sidelines ahead of starting the game. Players will not warm up on the field before the start of the first inning, and pitchers must be warmed up and ready to begin the game.
In an effort to fit both games in under the time limit, a wind-up timer will be used on each field. This proposal was discussed at length and passed (6-0 in favor)

****Items that will be reviewed with the players at our 6:45pm meeting on
Wednesday 8/12/26:

1) There are 3 board positions that will turn over in January 2027. All new prospective candidates should notify a current board member of their interest ASAP. We will use paper ballots for elections to the board. These ballots will be given to the managers to hand out to their teams. We will have a ballot box in each of the dugouts.
Voting will take place mid-way through the fall 2026 season.

2) Fall season teams each have 12 man rosters, and all teams must have 12 players at each game.

3) Splits are now interchangeable by the managers, but a split can ONLY play once per week.

4) The intentional walk rule from spring 2026 will NOT be used.

5) In an effort to keep our games under the time limit:
Defensive players will not chase after foul balls.
In between innings, players need to hustle off and on to the fields.
Outfielders may use foul territory to return to the dugouts.
