NSBSSA Board Meeting Minutes and Notes - 5/20/26

Minutes / Notes: MAY 20, 2026

In Attendance:

Jay Zaslaw, Tim Mester, Steve Lebo, Arnie Traub, John Heim

1) Approve Graduated Sanctions. (Still to be reviewed)

2) Approve Alcohol Policy  (Still to be reviewed)

3) Decisions made by board members representing the entire board.

4) Replace Harry Noga or wait until the election.

5-0 in favor of allowing Elmer Mason to vote thru 12/31/26. There will be new boardmember elections in January 2027.

5) Amend Bylaws to allow players to vote for board members.

5-0 in favor to allow all players and managers to vote for new boardmembers. By-laws were amended.

6) Use of Splits.

5-0 in favor. As needed by the team(s). For any use of splits who play on a different night, that player is treated as a pick-up and must bat at the bottom of the order.

7) Require full rosters

5-0 in favor. 11 man rosters will be drafted. 11 players will be required for every game. Managers can select substitutes from other teams. Line-for-line (or lower) with all pickups.

8) Maintain Sub List; allow picking up players from either sub list or rosters.

5-0 in favor. Managers are not required to use the sub-list when in need of substitutes.

9) Recruitment Committee.

It was suggested that Tim Mester be a part of the recruitment committee.

10) Rules Committee; define sanctions and processes.

Still to be reviewed.

11) Review Intentional Walk Rule.

5-0 in favor to ELIMINATE the walk rule that was implemented when the spring 2026 season was already in-progress.

12) Get rid of players only playing one position.

5-0 in favor. Manager's decision to position his players where and how needed. 

13) City will update and purchase an AED machine.

Other items discussed:

14) Election supervisor for players voting new members to the board.

This role will be filled by Steve Lebo. He will select another assistant  plus his daughter Kajsa Lebo.

15) Formation of Rules Committee.

It was proposed that Elmer Mason, Jeff Ruda, and one other non-manager be a part of this committee.

16) 6 to 12 foot pitching arc was proposed.

This will be discussed and voted on in a future board meeting before the start of the fall 2026 season.

17) 2 homeruns per player per game was proposed.

This will be discussed and voted on in a future board meeting before the start of the Fall 2026 season.

18) 2 walks total with maximum of 1 intentional walk per team per game was proposed.

This will be discussed and voted on in a future board meeting before the start of the Fall 2026 season.
