Player Waiver and Release of Liability

I expressly understand, agree and acknowledge that participation in the recreational activities  or events (hereinafter "Activities) sponsored promoted, held, or conducted by the New Smyrna Beach Senior Softball League could result in bodily injury, death, and/or property damage. In consideration of being permitted to participate in Activities, I, for myself and my executors, administrators, persons, representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin, DO HEREBY: RELEASE, WAIVE, FOREVER DISCHARGE, HOLD HARMLESS AND COVENANT NOT TO SUE the New Smyrna Beach Senior Softball League, any sponsor, advertisers, or promoters of any of the Activities and any owner or lessee of the premises used to conduct the activities and each of them, their officers, directors, members, executives, agents, employees, affiliates, department representatives, successors and assigns (collectively the "Release") of all liability to me or my executors, personal representatives, assigns, heirs, and next of kin, for any and all loss or damage and claims or demands therefore, on account of injury or illness to my person or property or resulting in my death, arising out or in any way connected with my participation or involvement in or presence at the Activities, suffered by me before, during or after the Activities, whether caused by negligence, action or inaction of Release, contracting any disease or condition or otherwise. The contents of this Form remain in full force & effect as long as I am a participant in NSBSSA. 

NSBSSA Participant Form

I agree to accept and adhere to the guidelines listed below as a condition to participate as a manager and/or player in the NSBSSA League. I understand that my failure to abide by these guidelines could result in disciplinary action by League officials. The contents of this Form remain in full force & effect as long as I am a participant in NSBSSA.

 

1. I accept that volunteer umpires will manage and call games.

I further accept that these volunteer umpires may be limited in umpiring ability, experience  and  knowledge of rules governing senior softball play, but that they do the best job they can in an objective and unbiased manner.

 

2. I will not publicly criticize any volunteer umpire's play calls.

I will not use abusive language toward umpires, league officials, or players. I accept that these types of treatment are unfair, unreasonable, counterproductive and unacceptable by any manager or player.

3. As a player if l have a question/comment about an umpire's game management, play call or rule interpretation I will not confront the umpire with that question/comment. I will ask my manager to bring the matter to the umpire's attention.

4. As a manager if l have a question/comment about an umpire's game management, play call or rule interpretation I will not provoke a confrontation with the umpire or player over the question/comment. I will bring the matter to the umpire's attention in a respectful way and will accept his final decision without a negative response to it.

5. Fighting or threats of fighting will not be tolerated. Ejection from the field and a minimum two (2) game suspension will follow. The Board of Directors will review for further disciplinary action.

6. I accept that the NSBSSA League is a senior softball recreational league and not a highly competitive win at all costs league. I will therefore accept fellow players' mental or physical errors; umpires calls or game outcomes in a manner appropriate to that perspective. I understand that no player's error, umpire's call or

7. I accept that my role as a League manager and/or player is to support fellow managers and players, respect the work and decisions of umpires and contribute to the maintenance of a positive senior softball playing experience for all concerned.

8. I will control my language to eliminate profanity in the dugouts, stands and on the playing field.

9. I agree to participate in at least 75% of scheduled games and tournaments.

 

ALCOHOL AND DRUG POLICY:

The City of New Smyrna Beach forbids the use of alcohol, smoking, vaping and illegal drugs in its parks.  This includes anywhere on the property of the NSB Sports Complex.  A violation of this policy will result in consequences defined by the “Graduated Sanctions Paradigm,” as determined by the Board.  At the time of the offense, a player or attending individual will be alerted of the policy and warned to curtail usage.

The City upholds the comprehensive ban of these substances.  Anyone caught violating these policies is subject to “code enforcement citations and fines,” in addition to the aforementioned league sanctions. Unfiltered cigars and “Special Event Exceptions” are exempt from this policy.  These paragraphs will be documented in the “Player Waiver and Release of Liability” form, which managers or Board-Represented officials will require players to sign at registration, collect and turn in. This specific paragraph will need to be initialed by each player: ________
