UCYS Soccer Earring Mandate Fall 2024

  • UCYS Rule: Law 4: Players Equipment UCYS Modifications, section D:

    • No jewelry may be worn by a player that is not for medical or religious purpose. Anything worn for medical or religious purpose should be under wristbands or tape to protect the other players on the field. Earrings are not allowed to be worn by players while participating in a UCYS game. Earrings must be removed; covering them with tape or band aids will not be accepted in place of removing them. A player will not be allowed on the pitch until earrings have been removed.

  • FIFA Rule: Law 4 Player’s Equipment Rule 1 Safety:

    • A player must not use equipment or wear anything that is dangerous. All items of jewelry (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands, etc.) are forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewelry is not permitted. The player must be inspected before the start of the match and substitutes before they enter the field of play. If a player is wearing or using unauthorized/dangerous equipment or jewelry, the referee must order the player to:
      • Remove the equipment.
      • Leave the field of play at the next stoppage if the player is unable or unwilling to comply.
      • A player who refuses to comply or wears the item again, must be cautioned.

  • Earring Defined via the Cambridge English Dictionary:
    • “A piece of jewelry, usually one of a pair, worn in a hole in the ear, or fixed to the ear by a fastener.”

  • How long does it take for an earring hole to close? (Leyloon Jewelry)
    • “The earring holes won’t close in a few hours. It takes 24 hours for an earring hole to close, if pierced 50 days ago or sooner. It takes around 3 weeks to close after 60 days from piercing date.”
