Tryout Dates and Times
All tryouts will be held at Dorseyville Middle School
and will be the week of October 17 and the week of October 24th.

· What is travel basketball?
Travel basketball is for the more serious basketball players who wish to play a more competitive brand of basketball. Players who make the team will be taught the fundamentals of the game, sportsmanship and team camaraderie. As this is a more competitive brand of basketball, playing time for some may be limited and solely at the discretion of the coach.

· Who is it for?
We will have boys and girls teams at the following age groups 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th. We will have a max of 2 teams per grade but only if the teams can be competitive.

· When does it start and end?
Typically November 1 through mid to end of March Tryouts start soon…. (see dates above)
Practices start in November
Regular season games start in December and run through the end of February.
If teams choose to enter end of season tournaments you could play until the end of March

· When do the travel teams play?
Home games will be played on a week night. Away game days and times are determined by the home teams. Could be weekdays or weekends.

· Where will games be played?
Home game will be played at Dorseyville Middle School and Shady Side Middle School, away games will be played at locations all over the Pittsburgh area. Teams may also enter mid season and year end tournaments.

· When do the teams practice?
There could be multiple practices during the week before the season and at least one practice a week during the season to be held on Sunday afternoons.

· Is there a cost?
Travel basketball is both a time and financial commitment. The cost is generally between $200.00 and $250.00 per player. Players will need to pay for uniforms, the leagues and tournaments they enter, gym time, clinics and insurance. If there are hardships, arrangements will be made for those players as we want everyone who wants to play to have a chance to play. All travel fees will need to be paid in full before the first game which is usually first week of December. If payment is not made the player will not be able to participate.

· How do the kids make a team?
2 open tryouts will be held for boys and girls at each grade level. Players who wish to participate should try and make both tryouts. The kids will be run through a series of drills to determine both their basketball and athletic abilities.

· How are the teams determined?
A group of individuals will rate each kid in various areas to determine who makes the teams. Teams will be made up of a max of 10 players and will be announced by Thursday October 31st.

· Who can tryout?
Kids that attend or plan on attending Fox Chapel or Shady Side Schools are eligible to try-out.
