CYAA PARENTS AND SPECTATORS CODE OF CONDUCT

As a volunteer-based organization, the Cambria Youth Athletic Association (CYAA) relies on parents and spectators to play an active, positive role in supporting our players, coaches, and managers. Your behavior on and off the field directly impacts our players' development as both athletes and individuals. The encouragement, respect, and example you provide will help shape their character and love for the game.

Every parent and spectator is expected to:

  • Refrain from "coaching" from the sidelines, criticizing players, coaches, or game officials, or attempting to influence game decisions or team lineups.
  • Support the team and coaching staff by assisting when asked.
  • Show respect and courtesy toward game officials, coaches, players, and fellow spectators at all times.
  • Respect game officials' decisions and avoid addressing them in a loud, disrespectful, or confrontational manner.
  • Cheer for your child's team in a positive and encouraging way, avoiding negative or abusive remarks toward any player, coach, or team.
  • Maintain composure and avoid actions, language, or gestures that could be seen as hostile or demeaning.
  • Ensure your child arrives on time for games and practices or communicate an appropriate excuse to the coach beforehand.
  • Demonstrate good sportsmanship at the conclusion of each game, whether in victory or defeat.
  • Teach and model fairness, respect, and integrity by personally committing to these values.
