WETASKIWIN MIXED SLO-PITCH LEAGUE

Wetaskiwin Mixed Slo-Pitch League – Basic Guidelines & Information

Diamond Setup
The home team for Game 1 is responsible for setting up the bases and providing a home plate. Home plate is to be 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick plywood measuring 22 inches wide by 40 inches long. It can have a home plate drawn on it or not.

Game Balls
Each team will be supplied with twelve 12" Hot Dot balls. The home team must bring game balls for the first game. As the home team changes for game 2, the other team must provide the game balls for the second game.

Game Scheduling & Locations
Games are scheduled Monday through Friday and will primarily be played on Diamonds 1, 2, 3, and 4 at the Manluk Recreation Grounds. Centennial School and Angus Ridge may be used as alternate locations. Directions will be provided as needed.

Facilities
The City will provide portable toilets with hand sanitizer at the recreation grounds.

Cancellations

Game Cancellations by a Team
If a team is unable to attend a scheduled game, a minimum of 72 hours' notice must be given to both the opposing team and league organizers. The cancelling team is responsible for arranging a rescheduled game using diamond availability provided by the league.

  • If no new date is agreed upon, the cancelling team will forfeit both games.
  • Forfeits will be recorded as 20-0 for both games. This impacts playoff standings, so teams are strongly encouraged to reschedule.
  • If a team refuses to reschedule, please contact league organizers.

Weather-Related Cancellations
If a game is cancelled due to poor weather and cannot be rescheduled, a split will be recorded:

  • Game 1: 7-0
  • Game 2: 0-7
  • This also affects playoff standings, so rescheduling is strongly encouraged.
  • If either team refuses to reschedule, contact league organizers.

Diamond Conditions
Diamonds will not be groomed in cases of heavy rain or snow. The City may close diamonds and will notify the league by 4:00 PM on the game day. Notifications will be sent via email and posted on Facebook.

Score Reporting
Both teams must email game results to slopitchwetaskiwin@gmail.com by Saturday of the playing week. Include:

  • Game date
  • Teams involved - Full Player Roster of who played!
  • Winners and losers
  • If scores are not reported by Saturday, a split will be recorded:
  • Game 1: 15-0
  • Game 2: 0-15

Again, this affects playoff standings, so timely reporting is essential.

Balls Hit onto Private Property
If a ball is hit onto residential property along 52nd Avenue, retrieve it respectfully. Report any disputes or incidents to the league organizers.

Alcohol Policy
No alcohol is permitted during games or on the diamonds. Post-game consumption should be responsible.

  • Any fines imposed due to violations will be charged to the offending team.

Conduct & Sportsmanship
All players are expected to uphold values of respect, fair play, and sportsmanship. Verbal, physical, or other forms of abuse will not be tolerated. After an investigation, disciplinary actions may include:

  • Game suspension(s)
  • Expulsion from the league
  • No compensation for suspended or expelled individuals or teams

Parking Regulations
Teams must park in designated lots at the Manluk Centre or Civic Centre, including for Diamond #4 (Al Arner Diamond).

Do not park in residential areas, the school field, or on the east side of the pool (City-restricted area).

Formal Complaints
Complaints must be submitted in writing via email along with a $50 e-transfer.

Complaints submitted without the fee will not be addressed.
