About West Kelowna Minor Football Association.

Founded in 2026, West Kelowna Minor Football Association provides youth football programs for athletes from West Kelowna, Westbank First Nation, and Peachland.

Our goal is to make football accessible to athletes of different ages and experience levels through a combination of flag and tackle football programs offered throughout the year.

WKMFA currently operates:

  • Winter Indoor Flag Football — January to March

  • Spring Flag Football — April to June

  • Fall Tackle Football — August to November

Our flag programs focus on skill development, speed, teamwork, and learning the fundamentals of the game in a non-contact environment. Our tackle program gives athletes the opportunity to continue developing those skills in a structured, competitive football setting.

Our tackle teams compete in the Southern Interior Football Conference (SIFC) against associations from across Interior British Columbia, under the broader structure of Football BC and Football Canada.

WKMFA is focused on building a strong, sustainable football program for our local communities while giving young athletes opportunities to develop, compete, and continue playing the sport as they grow.

Little Bears

Big Fun Starts Small

We’re excited to introduce Lil' Bears, our introductory flag football program designed specifically for athletes ages 5–7.

Lil' Bears gives young players the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football in a fun, active, and supportive environment. Through age-appropriate drills and games, athletes will develop important skills such as:

  • Running and movement

  • Hand-eye coordination

  • Catching and ball skills

  • Teamwork and communication

  • Basic flag football fundamentals

The focus is on learning through play, building confidence, staying active, and helping young athletes develop a love for the game.

Whether your child is brand new to organized sports or already loves throwing a football around, Lil' Bears is the perfect first step into football.

Flag Football

Our coed flag football program for athletes ages 7–13 offers a fast-paced, non-contact way to learn and develop the game. Played in a 5-on-5 format, the program focuses on speed, agility, passing, receiving, teamwork, and decision-making.

WKMFA operates two flag football seasons each year:

  • Indoor Winter Flag: January–March

  • Spring Flag: April–June

Flag football is one of the fastest-growing sports globally and will make its Olympic debut at the 2028 Summer Games.

Each June, WKMFA selects top-performing athletes to represent West Kelowna at the Football BC Flag Football Provincial Tournament in Kamloops and the Joe Gluska Invitational Tournament in Kelowna, providing an opportunity to compete at a higher level against programs from across the province.

Registration is open to athletes of all experience levels. Secure your spot and join West Kelowna Minor Football today.

Tackle Football

Ready for the Next Level?

Experience the excitement of Tackle Football!

Our tackle football program for athletes ages 7–13 provides a safe, structured, and competitive environment where players can learn the game, develop their skills, build confidence, and—most importantly—have fun!

Whether your child is putting on a helmet for the first time or returning for another season, our coaches focus on teaching:

  • Football fundamentals and proper technique

  • Safe tackling and blocking

  • Position-specific skills

  • Game strategy and football IQ

  • Teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship

  • Confidence both on and off the field

Play as a Bear. Compete Across the Interior.

West Kelowna Minor Football Association (WKMFA) competes in the Southern Interior Football Conference (SIFC), a bonded and insured league for football associations throughout Interior British Columbia. SIFC operates under Football BC and Football Canada, giving our athletes the opportunity to participate in organized, recognized tackle football and compete against teams from communities across the Interior.

Our goal is bigger than wins and losses. We want every athlete to develop as a football player, become a great teammate, make new friends, and create memories that keep them excited about the game.

New players are welcome. No previous tackle football experience is required.
