The NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) Coach Initiation in Sport module introduces new or experienced coaches to the foundational skills of coaching, such as long-term athlete development, ethics, coaching motivation, and athlete safety and wellness. It also teaches the key coaching concepts and educational tools that are the foundation of the NCCP. (The bullets below are redundant and can be removed since it is mandatory).
NCCP Making Head Way module is designed to help you gain the knowledge and skills required to ensure the safety of your athletes. This football module will cover what to do to prevent concussions, how to recognize the signs and symptoms of a concussion, what to do when you suspect an athlete has a concussion and how to ensure athletes return to play safely.
Registration and Cost/Rebates:
For only $15, these two courses will take approximately one hour to complete. To view and complete these certifications, go to thelocker.coach.ca and create an account. The cost for these certifications will be rebated upon proof of completion to your league Operator.
Criminal Record Check
Every coach or volunteer directly working with the players must present a recent Criminal Record Check including a "Vulnerable Sector" check. Please submit one that has been completed in the past 12 months or go to your location police station to obtain a new one.
If you volunteer to be a coach for Rise we promise you will have all the support you need! On top of the certifications you will take, you have access to the current UA Rise Rule Book, multiple playbook suggestions to run age-appropriate plays, and a list of practice drills. Furthermore, a Zoom meeting with the league operator prior to the season starting will be held to get you onboarded and prepared for the fun season ahead!
