Swift Current Minor Hockey

Rules

1) Player Eligibility
a. Each player must have proof of age and be registered with the team entered. 

2) Game Time Procedures

a. 5-minute warm up before each game.
b. All games will consist of 3 20-minute stop time periods.
c. Teams will be penalized one goal for every five minutes of tardiness.
     i. After 15 minutes the game will be forfeited.
     ii. Teams must be ready to go on the ice 15 minutes prior to schedule game time.
d. Mercy rule will apply in all games. If the goal spread is five goals or greater in the 3 period, the clock will revert to straight time. If the goal spread is reduced for four goals or less, the clock will return to stop time.
e. There will be no overtime in pool play - games will remain tied.
f. In the playoff round, if teams are tied after regulation, the following will occur:
     i. 5-minute sudden victory period with three skaters and a goalie per side;
     ii. If still tied, a three player shootout (coin toss to determine who shoots first);
     iii. If still tied, a one player shootout (must use all players once before anyone can shoot a second time 

3) Jersey Colour Policy
a. The home team wears light jerseys.
b. The away team wears dark jerseys. 

4) Pool Standings Guidelines
a. Standings in pool play: Two points for a win, one point for a tie, zero points for a loss.
b. To determine team standings, in the event of a tie after pool play, Hockey Saskatchewan Rule 3.08.01 shall be used (rule will be posted on bulletin board). 

5) Additional Suspension Policy
a. Any player, coach, or team official assessed any of the following penalties will also receive an extra game suspension in addition to any of the following penalties and will be suspended for the balance of the tournament:
i. Match Penalty
ii. Gross Misconduct
iii. Fighting Major b. Any coach who receives a game ejection will also receive an extra game suspension in addition to any other penalties which may occur. 

6) Code of Conduct Policy
a. Coaches are responsible for their teams conduct throughout the whole tournament.
b. Referee harassment by parents and spectators WILL NOT be tolerated. Offending individuals may be banned from the arena at the discretion of the referee and/or tournament committee. 

7) Tournament Officials Rights
a. The tournament committee reserves the right to adjust the location, game time, or the format based on unforeseen circumstances. Team representatives will be notified.
b. The Tournament Rule Interpreters reserve the right to provide additional, supplemental, or initial discipline to any player or team member for conduct and/or behaviour issues which may occur on or off the ice for the entirety of the tournament.
c. The referees and Tournament Committee’s decisions are final. d. THERE WILL BE NO PROTESTS ALLOWED.
