All members of the Stettler Swim Club - athletes, coaches, clubs, officials, volunteers and parents are bound by the policies as set out by Swim Alberta and the Stettler Swim Club.  Please take a moment to review our policies.

Policies Repealed

  • Coach of Record Policy (CoR) – repealed as it is no longer applicable; Swim Alberta will align with Swimming Canada’s approach.
  • Special Interest Group Membership Policy – repealed; of the three groups named, only ASSA qualifies, and it is now covered under the Club Membership Policy.

 

Screening Policy – Key Updates

We ask all clubs to pay particular attention to this policy, as it significantly broadens the scope of who must undergo screening.

Who is included under the new policy?
Screening requirements now apply to a wide range of individuals connected to clubs and Swim Alberta, including:

  • Athletes (except Minor Athletes)
  • Training staff and Athlete Support Personnel
  • Non-coach employees or managers
  • Directors and Officials
  • Event Organizing Committee members
  • Certain employees and Board members
  • Certain volunteers, parents, or minors assisting on a non-regular or informal basis

 

Key requirement – E-PIC vs. VSC

  • Vulnerable Sector Checks (VSCs) will only be required for individuals born before March 12, 1994. This is because of amendments to the law (Criminal Records Act) whereby individuals are no longer being added to the database of individuals who have received record suspensions for sexually based offences.
  • Individuals born after March 12, 1994 will be required to obtain an Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC).
  • VSCs are required only onceE-PICs must be renewed every three years (maximum of three seasons).
