As mandated by BC Minor Baseball and the South Burnaby Metro Club, all volunteers who are in contact with children that aren’t their own, on the field or in the dugout, must complete a criminal record check (CRC).
All CRCs are valid for the current year only and are required to be processed or completed before the season begins. Failure to provide a CRC will result in removal from the volunteer position and for coaches, potential to be prohibited from coaching the summer season.
South Burnaby Metro Club sports volunteers can complete their Criminal Record Check through the Criminal Records Review Program (CRRP), which provides CRCs free-of-charge as part of the BC government’s ongoing commitment to support the non-profit sector.
If you have completed a CRC with another SBMC sport (basketball, soccer) in fall/winter of 2022, it is valid for the 2023 baseball spring/summer season. Volunteers who have a cleared CRC from another registered organization this year, another CRC will not have to be done if you share the results via the CRRP online service.
If volunteers choose to go to the RCMP, the club will reimburse any fees paid to obtain the CRC. Please e-mail club secretary for a volunteer letter to bypass any fees.
