There is no need to call League Officials during the snowstorm. The only indicator whether the game is cancelled is if the ice arena decided to close.

You can decide to not travel to a game during a snowstorm. If the rink is open for business they will account for every scheduled game that day. That means there will be no compensation for a makeup game. If the rink closes during adverse weather they will compensate the league with make up ice sheet at a future date.
A snowstorm intensity can vary from town to town. While your team might decide not to travel to a game, your opponent might be ready to play.
Below you will find questions and answers encountered after snowstorms.
Q: Our team and the opposing team decided to cancel a game during a snowstorm. The cancellation was mutual. Do we have to schedule a make up game?
A: No. Both teams can take a tie (0-0) for the missed game. After all, it is only a game. If you believe your team is in danger then it is better to be safe than sorry.
Q: Our team and the opposing team decided to cancel a game during a snowstorm. The cancellation was mutual. We have some practice ice available. Can we schedule a game during this time?
A: Yes. Both teams have to agree on the scheduled slot and post the results under the regularly scheduled slot. Both teams work out their financial obligation for this make up between themselves.
Q: Our team and the opposing team decided to cancel a game during a snowstorm. The cancellation was mutual. We don’t have any practice ice available. Can the league find a make up ice slot for us?
A: Yes. SMMSHL will try to find available ice slot for the makeup game and notify both teams. The cost for this ice slot for each team is League Fee / Number Of Season Games. This will cover the ice sheet and cost of the referees. In some extreme cases the fee may be waived, refunded or reduced and may vary depending on the participating Arena. Check with SMMSHL for more information.
Q: Our team decided to cancel a game during a snowstorm. The opposing team showed up for the game. How does it affect us?
A: Your team earned a forfeit.
Q: Our scheduled game was cancelled because the rink manager decided to close the rink. Will we get a make up ice slot or a refund ?
A: Yes. The rink is responsible to issue alternate ice slot. If the rink is unable to supply alternate ice slot SMMSHL will not be responsible to pay for the cancelled ice slot and therefore have funds to find available ice slot with another hockey rink. If SMMSHL can not find available ice slot then both teams will be issued refunds.
