Ted Mcknight
Dec. 10, 1909 - Oct. 12, 1991
Ted was born in Lower Millstream, Kings County, NB. He always lived in Kings County. As a young boy of 15, he had to go to work driving a team of horses in the woods. As years went by, Ted went to work in the construction industry for Art Stewart, Arnold Stewart, Lynn Phillips, Paul Robinson and then Corbett & Cooper until he retired. Ted was dedicated to the sport of hockey, although he never played organized hockey himself. He got involved in hockey after he moved two drill halls from Camp Sussex. These drill halls became the Kings County Stadium. Ted made the ice at the stadium. In order to flood the ice, he would pull a drum filled with water around by hand. Ted then became the trainer for the Sussex Royals and later as the trainer for the Juvenile Rangers. After the 8th Hussars Sports Centre was built, and as the years went by, Ted became very involved with Minor Hockey. He looked after the minor hockey equipment room until illness forced him to give it up in the late 1980's. Ted loved children and he lived for hockey.
