Oct. 11, 2026: Proposed - A NEW GOVERNANCE MODEL FOR OUR ORGANIZATION

SCISA has grown significantly over the past six seasons. As our membership, programming, and organizational responsibilities have grown, we have also identified the need to evolve our governance structure to better support the league's long-term sustainability and capacity.

Non-board SCISA members initiated this work at last year’s AGM and later developed it through a Governance Committee that included both Board and non-Board SCISA members. Over the past year, the Governance Committee — Alex Zavarise (Chair), James Diemart, Eric Boschetti, and Rebecka Sheffield — has developed a proposed new Board Recruitment, Selection, and Member Engagement Policy, along with related proposed amendments to the Bylaws.

The goal is to create a more transparent, consistent, inclusive, and sustainable governance model while continuing to give members a meaningful voice in choosing the people who lead SCISA.

We are now sharing the draft with the membership for review and feedback before finalizing it.

Social Media Sharing Policy

To support the atmosphere of the queer and inclusive community in Hamilton, the league (at the discretion of the Director of Communications, the Commissioner and/or the Vice Commissioner) will share events, content or announcements from aligned organizations via the league's social media channels.

Requests from non-sponsors can be shared via Instagram/Facebook message or by emailing communications@scisa.ca.

The Board is currently meeting bi-weekly as we prepare for SCISA Season 6. While Board discussions remain confidential, we are committed to keeping members informed and engaged. After each meeting, we will share a high-level summary outlining key topics discussed, decisions made, and any relevant updates.
