Welcome to the start of the 2025-2026 hockey season! We’re excited to get back to the rink and kick things off.

Below you’ll find important information about the upcoming U13 tryout process, broken down by category. 

If you have any questions about the process, please do not hesitate to reach out. 

Please Note: Any players that tryout for U13 AA and do not make the weekend are to continue on in the hybrid process and are required to attend the skill evaluation skates.

U13 Hybrid-A Tryout Dates & ProcesS

• The purpose of these skates is to rank player skill levels so we can create evenly matched scrimmage teams.
• Some players released late from AA (after the Sept. 22 draft) will rejoin the hybrid group on Sept. 24. These players are ranked near the top as they were the last released from AA.
• Independent evaluators will assess players during both skill evaluations and scrimmages.
  
  Please see below for the scheduled ice times for the Skills Evaluation Skates on Saturday, September 20th at Kinsmen Arena. 
  We understand that some players may still be participating in the AA tryouts. If your player has not yet been released from AA or is involved in the AA scrimmages this weekend, please do not attend these evaluations.
  For all other players:
• Please arrive with full equipment.
• If possible, wear a plain jersey.
• Bring a water bottle.
• A number will be assigned at check-in and can be pinned to your jersey using the pins we will provide.
• Lastly, we are looking for on-ice volunteers to assist with setting up cones and helping guide players during the sessions. If you're available and willing to help, please contact the coordinators and we’ll add you to the volunteer schedule.
  

• Please note: In some cases, highly ranked players may be pulled after one scrimmage game to allow mid-level players more puck touches and opportunities.

U13 Goalie Evaluations

• Date: September 20
• Goalies will follow the same evaluation process as skaters.

U13 B-C Tryout Dates & Process

• Scrimmages: October 3, 4, and 5

Process Details:

• The B/C tryout process follows a similar structure as hybrid.
• If your athlete does not wish to try out for “A,” please attend the skills evaluation and let the check-in staff know they wish to move directly into B/C skates.

U13 Coaching Information & Sign-Up

Throughout the tryout process, coordinators will be in contact with parents who have applied to coach through the Saskatoon Redwings Coaches Registration Process. We aim to finalize coaches quickly so that team drafts can take place soon after the final scrimmage and evaluator data has been entered.
