Below is a streamlined overview of the SAAH U15AA evaluation process:
GENERAL EVALUATION PROCESS
All sessions are scored by independent evaluators. Each player receives session‑by‑session ratings based on skating, puck control, work ethic, checking, shooting, passing, and hockey sense. Coaches and assistants attend most sessions and provide additional nightly feedback to the coordinators.
ROOKIE CAMP
All non‑returning, non-U15AA skaters play three scrimmage games (eight teams).
Selected goalies from the goaltending skills session play two scrimmage games.
The top 90 players advance to Main Camp and join returning players.
At Main Camp entry, six teams are formed, each playing three additional games.
MAIN CAMP
Each player participates in one 75‑minute session per day.
Independent evaluators provide 12 total scores per player, creating a strong dataset for analysis.
Games consist of 20‑minute periods with a five‑minute goalie warm‑up before each period.
Gameplay mirrors real competition: on‑the‑fly changes, faceoffs, referees, and penalties.
Line combinations change every game and are monitored.
Suspendable infractions carry over into the regular season.
GOALIES
A dedicated SAAH Goaltending Coordinator oversees all goalie evaluations.
Goalies are assessed in a separate goalie session and then assigned to scrimmage games.
The goalie‑specific session runs September 6, 2026 (9:00 AM – 12:30 PM); details will be sent by the Goalie Coordinator.
All goalie scrimmages are evaluated by independent evaluators with goaltending expertise.
A separate goalie schedule will be distributed.
