Sanborn Summer League

Sanborn Summer League Rules

Sanborn Regional High School and Swasey Gym

  1. Games will be 4 8 minute stop time quarters, 32 minutes total. Between the First and Second Quarter and the 3rd and fourth quarters is a 30 sec intermission  timeout. Halftime is 2 minutes long.  Players can warm-up before games in the mini gym with their coaches present or on court if running on time. Overtime will be 2 minute stop time and is an extension of the 4th period.
  2. All rules will be the same as NFHS/NHIAA rules. Each quarter, when a team commits 5 Team fouls, the other team will shoot 2 FTs. Team Fouls reset each quarter. Team Fouls will be recorded but it is up to the coach to decide how to handle individual fouls. Throw in spots will follow the new rule for violations and fouls (without free throws).  The throw-in spot will depend on whether it is awarded in the out of bounds area outside of a team's front court or their backcourt.
  3. Coaches have 2 Full timeouts for each  game.
  4. Fouls will not be tracked and will be up to the coaches on how they want to handle excessive fouling players.
  5. Coaches are responsible for any First Aid Equipment and bring their own balls. We will have an ice machine for any team that needs it. We should have an athletic trainer available for all games.
  6. Chairs will be set up on each side of the court for teams to sit. Coaches should make sure to have their players pick up any trash after the game. Teams in the last games of the night should help pick up the chairs.
  7. All players and coaches need to act in a respectful manner, show good sportsmanship and have fun. My players are running the clocks and parents are volunteering. We may need help with running the clocks from other teams when Sanborn is playing.
  8. Any team, spectator or coach who acts in a disrespectful or unsportsmanlike way will be unable to complete the rest of their games for the night and will be asked to leave. Please help me with this. I would like to be able to coach my own team and not have to play the role of league supervisor if possible.
We are all here to help each other and our teams improve in the summer against different competition. We have a good group of coaches and teams coming to play. Let’s make this a great summer season of basketball! Please let me know if there's an issue getting players for a game a week prior so I can ask another team to fill in or have a team with enough for an opportunity to play.
