High School Coaches

Joe Salinetro
High School Head Coach

Coach Joe began wrestling in Elliottsburg, PA, and wrestled for West Perry High School. He amassed over 70 career wins there and also placed 5th in PA Freestyle states. He was All-Conference two years in a row. Joe trained with some of the top talent and was under the guidance of Marat Tomaev and Chris Priar of Iron Eagle Wrestling Club where he competed at multiple national-level events. Joe then wrestled at Division 1 Lock Haven University at 149lbs and 157lbs. After Lock Haven, Joe joined the Navy and served for 6 years. While serving, he began coaching in Virginia Beach where he guided multiple state champions and place winners. He also guided 3 All-Americans. Joe moved to New Kent in 2022 to take over the program.In his first year, he helped guide 3 state champions, Team state runner-up, and the school’s first ever Beast of the East Champion. Joe is also a member of the Virginia National Team Staff. Joe works as a Special Education teacher at the high school and resides in New Kent with his wife Toni, his daughter Milana, and his dog Nala.

Mike Faus
Assistant Coach

Coach Mike Faus grew up in wrestling-rich Lancaster County, Pennsylvania where he attended Manheim Central High School. He then attended Bridgewater College to study Special Education and History. In 2001, Coach Faus found his way to New Kent County Public Schools and New Kent High School and started coaching wrestling and football in 2001. With the help of Coach Andy Hintz, Coach Faus built the program from competing on the local level to competing nationally. As the head coach of the Trojans, Coach Faus became one of the winningest wrestling coaches in VHSL history amassing a dual record of 406 wins and only 85 losses from 2001-2021. He coached the program to 3 State Team Championships, 3 Region 1 Championships, 4 Region 3A Championships and 14 Bay Rivers District Championships. He is the founder of the New Kent Middle School program and helped create a Middle School wrestling league. In 2015, Coach Faus was recognized as the Virginia Chapter of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame Coach of the Year during the 2018-2019 season, Coach Faus was also recognized as the National Federation of State High School Associations-Virginia Coach of the Year. Coach Faus lives in Richmond, VA with his wife Kristin. He has been volunteering and supporting the program from within the school setting and is currently the Vice President of the New Kent Wrestling Club.

John Goodbody

Assistant Coach

John Goodbody has been around the sport of wrestling for almost 30 years. He was a 2005 Virginia State Placer, 2x Central Region Finalist, and a 2x District Champion for Manchester High School while being coached by Paul Richardson.During the off-season John competed on the State and National Level with Team Virginia-CREW and Southside Wrestling Club. After high school, John was a volunteer coach before joining Chris Steinbacher’s staff at Impact Wrestling Academy (Team Impact) and helped in the development of multiple State Placers, State Champions, and All-Americans while learning how to build a program. Goodbody eventually joined Mike Faus’ staff as an Assistant Coach for New Kent HIgh School for 10 years before taking over the program for 2 years. He is now back to being an Assistant Coach for the 2023-2024 season. While at New Kent, he has helped coach the Trojans to 4 State Team Championships, 1 Runner-Up State Finish, and 11 District Championships. Several Trojans have won numerous State Individual Championships, All-American Honors, and have gone on to wrestle in college. Coach Goodbody currently lives in Midlothian, Virginia with his wife, Melissa, and their son, Gage. He is a Special Education Teacher and Collaborative History Teacher at New Kent High School.

Michael Carter
Assistant Coach

Michael Carter Wrestled at Saranac High School in Upstate NY from 1995-1999. During his time there, he was a 3-year captain, voted sectional outstanding wrestler, and state qualifier. He also had the privilege of coaching K-12 wrestling in Peru, NY, from 2016-2020. Furthermore, he served as a coach on the 2023 Virginia U16 National Dual Team. He is currently coaching at Virgina Team Predator Wrestling Club.

Logan Everett
Assistant Coach

Logan graduated from Williamson High School in Tioga, Pennsylvania. He was a Pennsylvania state place winner and had 143 high school wins. Following high school, Logan attended the United States Military Academy at West Point where he was a 4 year starter for the wrestling team. He was a 2x NCAA qualifier at 141lbs and team captain during his senior campaign. He graduated in 2017 and is currently serving on Active Duty in the United States Army.



Middle School Coaches

Daniel Blitz
Middle School Head Coach

Dan began wrestling in Bowie, MD, at Bowie High School where he became a 2-time state qualifier in his freshman and sophomore years. Following high school Dan attended Virginia Commonwealth University where he studied pre-med. During college, Dan found a passion for coaching and instruction in the sport of rock climbing. There he became a competitive athlete and instructor, teaching the fundamentals of extreme sports conditioning and strength training to both youth and adults. In January of 2022, Dan graduated from the Virginia State Police Academy as a State Trooper, and he currently patrols the City of Richmond and Henrico County.

Travis Ragland
Assistant Coach

Travis wrestled at New Kent High School where he was a 4x Virginia State finalist, 2x Virginia State Champion as well as a Fargo All American. Trained under Mark Strickland with Virginia Team Predator. 



Youth Division

Alex Rounceville
Head Advanced Youth Coach

Alex grew up in a small town called Shady Side, Maryland, where he started wrestling when he was 6 years old. He wrestled at Southern High School in Anne Arundel County where he was a 3x state place winner and currently holds the school's win record with 139 wins. He also found success in freestyle, where he medaled twice nationally at the AAU Junior Olympics. He then went on to wrestle collegiately at Belmont Abbey College in Belmont, North Carolina, where he graduated with a business degree in 2022. He then moved to Charles City, Virginia, where he works as a project manager for a general contractor.

DJ Landry
Rookie Youth Coach

He began wrestling in Lafayette, LA, for Teurlings Catholic High School. As a freshman, he placed 6th in state in the 152 weight class. During his sophomore year he tore a tendon in his ankle and was unable to wrestle the rest of his high school career. He stayed active in the organization helping out everywhere he could until he graduated. After high school, he served in the army for 2 years. He is currently a Field Service Technician for SICK, Inc.

Weston Slate
Rookie Youth Coach

Weston Slate wrestled for Thomas Dale High School, in Chester, VA, where he placed 2nd in the AAA Central Region at 171 lbs, 3rd in the AAA Central Region at 189 lbs, is a 2 time AAA state tournament qualifier, and finished his varsity high school wrestling career with a record of 88- 26 from ‘02-‘05. He is a board certified Nurse Practitioner, specializing in Interventional Radiology, and further specializing in the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency. His wife, Kelsey Slate, is the Physical Education teacher at Quinton Elementary. Weston started coaching with the New Kent Youth Wrestling club in 2022, and is eager to see the success of our youth wrestlers for years to come.
