Dartball Rules (Updated 25-26 Season)

The following is the established rules that have been voted on during Captain Meetings. The following is updated for the 2025-2026 Season. Should any rule require any discussions, it will need to be brought forward in the captain’s meetings that occur twice a year.

 

 

Dartball Rules and Regulation

GENERAL RULES

1. All games will be played in compliance with the printed schedule on Mondays at 7:00 pm.

2. Seven (7) or more players make up a team. A team may play with 5 or 6 players when no more are present. The team will take automatic out(s) (2 for 5 players and 1 for 6 players) for any players not present. These outs will be at the end of the line up. More players may be added in the same way. 

3. Players must be 12 years of age by the end of the current season and be a regular attendee/member of a church or church school served by a Pastor.

4. Games are to start at 7:00p.m. Forfeit of the first game will be at 7:15p.m. The second game at 7:30 p.m. and the third at 7:45p.m. The only reason for games forfeited in this manner are if a team has less than 5 players and is expecting players to show up at a later time.

5. A match consists of 3 games. 3 games must be played!

6.  Each team will have an umpire. The duty of the umpire will be to watch the board, calling balls, strikes, and Outs. During playoffs both teams should have an umpire at the board.

7 All players must be seated except the umpire and the batter. All opposing players are to remain seated and refrain from any distracting movements.

8. On the regular scheduled Monday, if a team cannot field a team, (at least 7 players) or if they choose 6 or 5 players, taking 1 or 2 outs, then this team will automatically forfeit all 3 games. There will be NO make-up games unless there is a church related activity or a death. Should either of these occur the two captains should meet and have the 3 games made-up within a two-week time span. These are the only exceptions!

9. To qualify for playoffs a player must play a third of the total game played that season. The games do not need to be played back-to-back but must be played before the playoffs.

10. Each team must purchase at least one new box of darts for the playoffs.  

 

TEAM CAPTAIN RESPONSIBLITIES

11. If there is a mass cancellation games, All Captains need to call/text the Dartball league Secretary for him to make the call to Cancel all games. To make it official.

12. The team captain must maintain a batting order. If a man bats out of turn, the player who should be up is out, and the next man in the batting order is up. The man out of turn must be called out before the next man throws, or the dart remains.

13. Captains are to tell players to bring donation. (Can Goods) to the mid-year service.

14. When tied after the 9th inning, the 2 captains are to decide how to finish the game.

15. All captains are to remind all players to donate each night of the playoffs for cost of food.

16. The use of tobacco in any form is strictly prohibited during the games. Team captains are to enforce this.

17. Following each evening's games the captain of the home team shall report the scores to the Dartball Score Keeper. So, they can be added to the current Mount Pleasant Dartball League Standings Web Page. (https://leagues.teamlinkt.com/mtpleasantdartballleague)

 

PLAYING CONDITIONS

18. The bottom of the board must be 2 feet off the floor and the center of the board must be 4 feet from the floor. Pitching distance is 20 feet from the line to the board.

19. Four feathered #2 darts will be official for all games.

20. Each team shall have identifying marks for their darts. All teams shall have playable darts as agreed upon by the visiting team captain.

21. Umpires should not touch a dart in question until the call is made. If a question arises, the two umpires should inspect it before the dart is pulled from the landing spot.

22. If a foot goes over the line the player is out. This violation must be called immediately during the act of throwing.

23. If a dart grazes or touches the ceiling and board, it plays where it lands. Anywhere else it lands, is out.

24. Any dart hitting the playing surface and failing to stick is a DEAD dart. Player IS NOT OUT and the at bat continues.

25. If a dart sticks into another dart, it is scored the same as the lead dart.

26. On a double play, the batter is out plus the runner nearest home base. All other runners advance one base. In the case that there are no other runners on base, only the batter is out. On a sacrifice hit, all runners advance one base, and the batter is out.

27. In the event of a tie in the standings at the end of the season for any position, teams involved will refer to their record against each other throughout the year. The team with the most wins gets the higher position in the standings. 

28. Playoff pairings will be determined by a bracket, whether odd or even numbers of teams in the league.

 

MISCELLANEOUS

29. The league is managed by the officers and the team captains, to which all suggestions for improvements can be made.

30. Each man is to pay the league $6.00 per season. $3.00 is to be paid by the end of October, and $3.00 by the end of the first half. Young men ages 12-16 will pay $1.00 per half.

31. Flower Fund is $10.00 payable per half or $20.00 per team for the year.
