COMMONLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Q: I'm coaching a mini-minor team. Do I get to choose my team?
A: If you are coaching in the same division as your child is playing in, your child is automatically placed on your team. All other children in the mini-minor division are placed onto teams by the Board.
Q: How are teams chosen for the Minor - Major division?
A: The Board will hold a draft. You will choose a "token" out of a bag that will be numbered. The number you get, will determine which order you will get to roster your team and choose your practice night. The draft is a snake draft.
Q: What if I'm unable to make try-outs?
A: If you are unable to make try-outs, you can still attend draft to roster your team. Someone from the LLD Board may be able to sit in your place during try-outs and give you the information received for you to use in drafting your team.
Q: What if I'm unable to attend the draft?
A: An LLD Board member will draft for you.
Q: Does the LLD Board choose who makes the All-Star teams?
A: No. The LLD Board only compiles the data to determine who made the All-Star teams, based on voting completed by the coaches.
Q: Where are practices held?
A: Practice will always be held at a Lumberton ISD gymnasium. Coaches are not allowed to hold an official practice at their home or another location outside of LISD. All LISD gyms are equipped with 24-hour surveillance and can be referenced if an issue arises. This rule is in place to protect the children and the coaches.
Q: There are some nights that I know I won't be able to make it to practice. Can I have a parent from the team run practice for me?
A: This can only occur if this parent has completed a background check through our system and the results have been received by the LLD Board and they are cleared.
Q: Does everyone who may assistant coach with me or help me run a practice need a background check?
A: YES. At no time is anyone allowed to assist the team without a cleared background check.
