Saskatoon AA Hockey 2026–27 Coach Announcements
SMHA is proud to announce our AA head coaches for the upcoming 2026–27 season. This outstanding group of leaders brings a wealth of experience, proven success, and a strong commitment to developing athletes both on and off the ice.
U18AA COACHES
Brett Jarvis – Saskatoon Crunch
Entering his third season as Head Coach of the Crunch, Brett Jarvis continues to build on a strong legacy within the U18AA program. A recipient of the 2025–26 SMHA Award of Distinction , Brett has been involved in the U18AA league for over a decade and brings proven leadership and consistency to the bench.
Lane Wallace – Saskatoon Sabercats
Lane Wallace returns for his second season as Head Coach of the Sabercats. With many years of experience as an assistant coach at the U18AA level and past leadership as President of the Prairie Junior Hockey League, Lane brings a strong hockey background and organizational insight to his team.
Joel Flory – Saskatoon Screaming Eagles
In his first year leading the Screaming Eagles, Joel Flory is a well-respected coach with a long history in Saskatoon minor hockey. Having worked across multiple age levels, Joel is known for his commitment to development and fostering a positive team environment.
Shannon Briske – Saskatoon Riverkings
Shannon Briske brings championship-caliber leadership to the Riverkings. A Coach of the Year (2020–21) and 2025–26 Provincial Champion, Shannon has demonstrated the ability to guide teams to success while maintaining a strong focus on player growth and team culture.
U16AA COACH
Kurt Lanigan – Bridge City Blues
Kurt Lanigan steps into his first season as Head Coach of the Bridge City Blues. With experience coaching in the Bobcat Zone and with the Comets program, Kurt brings strong development experience and a commitment to building competitive teams.
U15AA COACHES
Mike Bubnick – Saskatoon Generals
Mike Bubnick enters his 10th year with SMHA and continues to build on an impressive coaching résumé. With experience in the Jr. Blades program and back-to-back provincial championships with the Kodiaks, Mike brings a winning mindset and strong leadership to the Generals.
Randy Smith – Saskatoon Stallions
A coaching veteran, Randy Smith enters his 22nd season behind the bench. Recently recognized with the SMHA Lifetime Achievement Award, Randy is known for his passion for the game and dedication to mentoring young athletes both on and off the ice.
Duane Vandale – Saskatoon Bandits
With 17 years of coaching experience, Duane Vandale returns to the Bandits after spending time with Warman U18 AAA. This marks his 12th season with SMHA, and his experience and familiarity with the program make him a valuable leader for the team.
Jeff Salmaso – Saskatoon Outlaws
Jeff Salmaso brings 18 years of coaching experience, including 14 within SMHA. His background includes coaching U15AA in Warman and experience at the Junior B level. Jeff’s knowledge and enthusiasm make him a strong addition to the Outlaws bench.
U13AA COACHES
Leigh Pickford – Saskatoon Fury
A returning coach with the Fury, Leigh Pickford brings continuity and strong ties to the Renegade Zone. His experience within the program supports ongoing player development and team success.
Jon Bubnick – Saskatoon Kodiaks
Jon Bubnick begins his first year as Head Coach with the Kodiaks. Representing the Redwing Zone, Jon is eager to make an impact and guide his team through a competitive season.
Shane Endicott – Saskatoon Mission
Shane Endicott enters his first year as a U13AA Head Coach from the Bobcat Zone. He brings enthusiasm and a development-focused approach to the Mission program.
Jason Wagar – Saskatoon Express
Jason Wagar joins the Express for his first season as Head Coach. Representing the Flyers Zone, Jason brings valuable experience including time coaching at the U15AA level, along with a strong commitment to developing players and building a positive team culture.
Preston Ciccine – Saskatoon Titans
Returning for his second stint at the U13AA level, Preston Ciccine leads the Titans with valuable experience from the Aces Zone. His familiarity with the program brings stability and direction.
Danton Danielson – Saskatoon Thunder
Danton Danielson begins his first season as Head Coach with the Thunder. Coming out of the Flyers Zone, he brings extensive coaching experience at the U15AA and U18AA levels, including time with the Riverkings, as well as serving as Head Coach of the Prince Albert Mintos. Danton’s high-level background and leadership experience will be a tremendous asset to the program as he focuses on player development and team success.
SAAH is excited to welcome this exceptional group of coaches for the 2026–27 season. Their combined experience, dedication, and passion for the game will continue to elevate the AA program and provide a positive, high-performance environment for athletes across Saskatoon.
