
LOWMHA 2020/2021 Return to Play
Using HNO’s Return to Hockey policies, Hockey Canada Policies, City Policies, Northwestern Health Unit Advice, as well as advice from a chief Medical Officer LOWMHA has developed a Return to Play directive. All points are subject to change depending on the Covid situation and government directives.
- There will be a strict deadline on registration in order to set up the season. Any player that is trying out for AA must be registered in the system by Sept 21 at 12:00 pm. All other registrations must be completed by September 28th.
- Players are only permitted to play on one team, in one league. No outside league/team game play or practices permitted outside of LOWMHA.
- Season will begin with individual skill practices. If we are able game play will begin late October/ early November.
- League cohorts of 50. Teams will be split and will play in a 50 player bubble. (example 3 teams will play each other in a bubble)
- No tournaments/ travel- unless HNO approved and Health Unit approved in certain situations and if safe to do so. There will be NO TOURNAMENTS
- AA teams will play in a bubble with Dryden and Fort Frances. No other teams will be allowed in this bubble. Teams will follow those city policies. Both which include spectators. Dryden one adult per player. Fort Frances- no spectators at this time.
- Each team will have a covid rep that will be at arena for screening etc.
- Players will arrive dressed to arena. They may put on skates/ helmets in arena. HNO is advising the use of full plastic cages on helmets.
- Reduction of fees due to no tournament travel. Scheduled refund system based on what happens. No refunds will be made until January.
- Blind Draft
- There will only be allowed one spectator allowed in the Kenora/Keewatin arenas. This includes siblings. One adult per child allowed in the arena to watch practices/ games. NO EXCEPTIONS
- No body checking or body contact
- No spitting at any time
- Masks are mandatory in the arenas
- Players/ 1 adult will enter and exit the building by the designated doors.
- Once your time is complete you must exit the arena
- There will be no early arrivals permitted.
- Shortened ice times to allow arena staff to clean the areas.
- All players will bring their own water bottle.
- Coaches will wear masks on the bench. Time keepers will wear masks in the clock.
