Cardiff finish as runners up at Swindon Swings and Roundabouts

On Sunday, the Cardiff Co-Ed team headed to Swindon for the Swings and Roundabouts Tournament, hosted by the Swindon Softball League.

The weather was hot and humid (despite the grey, cooler conditions predicted by various weather apps 😂), and the team enjoyed a fantastic day on the diamonds.

We started strongly, with both the bats and defence on 🔥, securing a 21–6 victory over the Panthers, followed by a 16–11 win against the Oxford Mavericks. In our final group game, the hits slowed down and we suffered a narrow 7–4 defeat to the Reading Bluejays.

Despite the loss, we finished top of our group and 3rd overall out of 12 teams, earning a place in the Magic Cup.

In the semi-final, we faced the Bristol Bees and came out on top with an outstanding 20–8 victory.

The final saw us take on the undefeated KKs. Despite a valiant effort from the team, we unfortunately came up short, losing 16–7. Despite the loss it was a respectable score against an NSL 2 team.

Finishing runners-up in the Magic Cup is a fantastic achievement, and the team should be incredibly proud of the way they played throughout the day. It was great to see new players part of the Cardiff co-ed team as well as welcoming back a familiar face into the Cardiff family.

A huge thank you to all the organisers, both on the day and behind the scenes. Cardiff thoroughly enjoyed the tournament, and we’re already looking forward to the next one.
