Zero Tolerance Policy

LMS Hockey Zero Tolerance Policy

Our program is committed to creating a safe, respectful, and rewarding environment for everyone involved in minor hockey — players, coaches, officials, and spectators. The Zero Tolerance Policy is in place to address growing concerns around verbal and physical abuse, especially directed toward officials.

Why It Matters

Negative behaviors — including abusive language and confrontation — have led to a decline in officials participating in the sport. To protect the integrity of the game and those who make it possible, LMS Hockey enforces a Zero Tolerance stance in alignment with the Saskatchewan Hockey Association.

What Zero Tolerance Means

Players
Will be penalized for:

  • Arguing with officials
  • Swearing or using vulgar language
  • Openly showing dissatisfaction with official decisions
Persistent behavior may lead to a Game Misconduct and further discipline.

Coaches
Will be penalized for:

  • Confronting officials or disputing calls
  • Inciting others through gestures or aggressive behavior
  • Interfering with officials outside gameplay
Repeated violations may result in a Game Misconduct and further discipline.

Spectators/Parents
May be removed from the game area for:

  • Disruptive, abusive, or threatening conduct
  • Interfering with participants or gameplay
  • Officials may suspend play until the behavior is addressed. Further action may be taken by the LMS Board

Our Goal

We believe hockey should teach more than just skill — it should instill respect, discipline, and sportsmanship. Zero Tolerance isn’t about restricting passion; it’s about protecting the game and everyone in it.
