Code of Conduct

Code of Conduct – General

This league adheres to the code of conduct for players, coaches and parents provide by US Lacrosse and Positive Coaching Alliance. We require all coaches and players (boys & girls) to become members of US Lacrosse.

All players and coaches will adhere to the Positive Coaching Alliance (www.positivecoachingalliance.org) and will, at all times, Honor the Game and respect:
    - the game, by playing hard and refusing to bend the rules to win
    - their opponents, by playing “fierce and friendly”
    - the officials, by showing respect even when we disagree
    - our teammates, by being committed to them on and off the field
    - our self, by holding ourselves to a high standard even when others do not

US Lacrosse and HR Lacrosse believes that all players, coaches and parents need to realize that a honoring the game perspective needs to replace the common win-at-all-cost perspective common in many sports. If a coach and his/her team have to dishonor the game to win, what is this victory really worth, and what message does this send to our young athletes? (from US Lax coaches’ education program). We also respect the facilities for games and practices, picking up after ourselves and responsibly caring for the fields, goals, and grounds.

…Respect the Game…

Code of Conduct – Parents
All parents are encouraged to cheer for their children, their teammates and their opponents. Remember, at all levels of HR Lax our participants are young players, many of whom have just started to play the sport we all love. Keep your cheering positive, both toward your own son/daughter, and their opponent.

Please note: The rules committee adopted the collegiate rule (ACC, SEC etc) that prohibits all noisemakers during the game.

Code of Conduct – Coaches
All coaches are encouraged to direct positive comments toward their players and opponents. Coaches at the younger levels (U-8 & U-10) are encouraged to assist/coach ALL players on the field. This is the time to teach the sport to all – and any positive comments are appropriate.

Code of Conduct – Players
All players are encouraged to respect the rules of the games, the officials who administer the rules, and their decisions; respect opponents and acknowledge them for striving to do their best;  and be an intense competitor on the field, while behaving in a respectable manner at all times.

Code of Conduct – Referees and Officials
All referees and officials are encouraged to conduct themselves on and off the field in a professional manner. Their conduct will not embarrass their fellow officials, their teammates, or the league and they will hold themselves to the highest standard, even when others do not.

A final note about Referees:

HR Lax reminds all to not “ride the refs” during games. Keep your comments as positive as possible. Remember, for the U-8, 10, & 12 level games the refs are mostly high school players, who are doing their best. Any extreme verbal abuse of referees is prohibited and may result in a penalty or an ejection (player, coach or parent).
