No prior soccer experience? No worries! All you need is a positive attitude, patience, and a readiness to have fun. Coaching is a rewarding way to give back to the community and a great opportunity to bond with your child(ren). You won’t regret it!

Required Coach Training

To get started, you'll need to complete mandatory coach training, as required by Alberta Soccer. Don’t worry—HRMS will reimburse you for any training costs. Respect in Sport is a lifetime certification, and Coach Education is valid for 5 years.

First, complete the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders course. Click here for instructions on how to complete this course.

Next, create an NCCP Number by clicking here.

Then, complete the required Canada Soccer Coach Education Courses  by clicking here.

-Active Start (3-5 years old) – U5
-Fundamentals (6-9 years old) – U7 & U9
-Learn to Train (9-12 years old) – U11 & U13
​​​​​​​-Soccer for Life (13+ years old) – U15 & U17

For additional training, there’s also Safe Sport Training (optional), which you can access here.

Coaches only need to complete the online portion of these courses. After completion, you’ll receive a National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) number and a Respect in Sport Certificate number, both of which are required for your coach registration form.

Criminal Record Check

A Criminal Record Check (CRC) is required for all coaches and must be renewed every 2 years.

To complete the CRC, print the CRC Request Letter, and take it with your photo ID to your local RCMP office. The CRC typically takes about a week to process and should be free of charge if you have the letter. Once completed, scan or take a photo of the CRC and email it to info@highriversoccer.ca.
