Highlands Futbol continues the legacy of Coach Merlin Fredericks, one of Florida’s most respected youth soccer developers and the original founder of Highlands Soccer Club.

What began years ago with just five committed players grew into one of the most competitive youth programs in the state. Under Coach Merlin’s leadership, that small group developed into a Top 10 ranked Florida program known for discipline, technical excellence, and player advancement.

His players have gone on to MLS Next academies, collegiate programs, and professional training environments. But the success was never just about rankings. It was about building complete players the right way.

When the original Highlands Soccer Club chapter came to a close, the mission did not end. Highlands Futbol was created as the next evolution. The goal was simple. Bring high-level, structured, affordable player development back to Highlands County.

As Coach Merlin says,
