Velocity Volleyball Club – 2026/27 Athlete Selection Pathways

Velocity Volleyball Club follows Volleyball Alberta’s approved signing and tryout process. For the 2026–2027 season, our club will use all four official pathways for athlete selection:

• Re‑Signing Period
• Open Commitment Period
• Fall Tryouts & Signing
• Winter Tryouts

This ensures athletes and families have multiple opportunities to join Velocity while staying fully aligned with Volleyball Alberta policies.

Re‑Signing Period (June 8–26) (completed)

Returning athletes from the previous season may be offered a Re‑Signing Letter of Intent (LOI).

Key Points:

• Re‑signed athletes will be posted by June 28
• Re‑signed athletes are committed to Velocity and cannot attend other club tryouts
• This window is optional for both athletes and the club

Open Commitment Period (July 1–August 23)

Athletes wishing to join Velocity before tryouts may commit during this window.

Key Points:

• Athletes may commit to Velocity at any time during this period
• Deposits may be collected after 7 days
• Athletes may not attend tryouts while holding an open commitment
• Committed athletes will be posted by August 28

Fall Tryouts & Signing Period

Velocity will run full Fall Tryouts for all eligible age groups

15U–18U for any spots remaining to be filled after re-signing and Open commitment periods have finished.

• U16-18 Tryouts will be between August 30–September 13 if needed
• U15 Tryouts will be between September 12-20

14U – no resigning or open commitments were done for this age group so this will be a whole team tryout

Tryout & signing window: September 12–20 registration will open as soon as we know dates

Winter Tryouts (Starting November 29)

Velocity will also participate in the Winter Tryout Period for U12 and U13 age groups during this time as indicated by Volleyball Alberta

U13: for any spots remaining to be filled after re-signing and Open commitment periods have finished.

Tryouts may begin November 29 – registration will open as soon as we know dates

U12: no resigning or open commitments were allowed for this age group so this will be a whole team tryout

Important: Once an athlete signs an LOI with Velocity, they are committed and cannot attend other club tryouts.
