What is NFL FLAG?

Gateway Flag Football at Sherman Soccer Complex is part of NFL FLAG, the official NFL flag football program (NFL-branded uniforms) with leagues across the United States. Gateway Flag has also been recognized as one of NFL FLAG’s top 100 programs.

What ages do you serve?

Ages 4–16. League age for Spring 2026 is the child's age on September 1, 2025. In the fall, everyone moves up a division.

Where are practices and games?

When are practices?

  • One practice per week, 1 hour long
  • Practices are on Monday or Wednesday at 6:00 PM or 7:00 PM
  • The coach chooses the night/time for practices
  • You can request a specific practice night during registration

When are games?

  • Games are on Friday nights (under the lights), typically between 6:00–9:00 PM

What is the game schedule for spring 2026?

  • No practices over Lee County Spring Break (week of March 16)
  • First game: March 27
  • Playoffs: Week of May 11
  • Championships: June 4

Do you offer multiple seasons?

  • Fall: Sep–Nov
  • Winter: Dec–Feb
  • Spring: Mar–May

When does registration open?

  • Fall: Opens in May
  • Winter: Opens in August
  • Spring: Opens in November

How much does it cost?

Coed division $175, Girls division $165 with a sibling discount of $10.

Do you need to live in Gateway to play?

No—players do not need to live in Gateway or attend school in Gateway to participate.

Are there divisions?

Yes. We offer multiple age divisions, and exact divisions may adjust depending on registrations.

Are discounts available?

Yes—early bird and sibling discounts are offered and are automatically applied during registration when eligible.

Will my child make a team?

Yes—all registered players make a team.

What is the “Combine” / evaluation?

Evaluations (Combine) are used to rate players for the draft to help balance teams.

Can I request a coach, teammate, or carpool?

No. Teams are formed automatically using player ratings to make teams as even as possible, so coach/teammate/carpool requests are not accepted. A practice-night/time request may be available for a small fee (discouraged unless necessary).

What equipment is required?

  • Mouthpiece required for every player
  • Mouthpieces are available on-site for $5.00 (while supplies last)
  • Pocketless shorts are required, no skirts or pocketed shorts for safety reasons
  • Rubber cleats are recommended

Are shorts included?

Shorts are not included with registration. You can purchase pocketless reversible shorts during registration (typically $19.95). Any add-on items bought during registration (shorts, socks, mouthpiece, etc.) ship with uniforms after teams are assigned so items match the NFL team colors.
