Position Title: Game Day & Operations Coordinator

Term: Seasonal (May–October; annual renewal subject to Board approval)
Compensation: $5,000 honorarium for the season

Role Purpose

The Game Day & Operations Coordinator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating all operational aspects of Fort Garry Lions home games and related logistics to ensure safe, consistent, and professional execution of club activities. This role serves as the central point of coordination for game day operations, equipment, facilities, and canteen oversight.

Primary Responsibilities

Game Day Operations

Coordinate and oversee all home game day logistics

Ensure fields are properly set up, game-ready, and taken down

Act as the on-site operations lead during home events

Liaise with league officials, referees, and visiting teams as required

Equipment Management

Oversee inventory, distribution, collection, and storage of equipment

Ensure all equipment is safe, available, and compliant with league standards

Coordinate with the unified equipment program and Football Manitoba regarding repairs, replacements, and reporting

Canteen Oversight & Quality Control

Ensure canteen operations meet club standards for safety, cleanliness, and consistency

Coordinate volunteers and supplies in collaboration with the Board or canteen lead

Monitor pricing, cash handling processes, and inventory controls

Field & Facility Bookings

Coordinate and manage field bookings for games and related club activities

Serve as the primary liaison for field scheduling

Communicate scheduling details to relevant club stakeholders

Qualifications

Strong organizational and coordination skills

Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively

Comfortable working independently and taking initiative

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Availability during evenings and weekends throughout the season

Experience in event coordination, sport administration, or operations is an asset

Familiarity with football operations or community sport organizations is an asset

Accountability & Reporting

Reports directly to the Club President, Vice President, or designated Board member

Provides a post-season operational summary upon request

Operates within policies set by the Board of Directors

Role Classification

This is an honorarium-based position and not an employee role. Hours are primarily evenings and weekends. Compensation reflects overall responsibility and availability rather than tracked hourly work. Payments are issued twice monthly.

Your volunteer time can help raise money for your child's team.  Many companies have partnered with an organization called benevity.  This organization works in partnership with companies to support charitable organizations to help provide financial support to many different causes.  The fort garry lions have been registered with benevity, so if the company you work for has a relationship with them your volunteer hours can raise funds for the lions.  Please reach out to your h.r. department to see if your workplace is part of benevity.       




FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE PROGRAMS:


The Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Bell MTS are committed to making youth tackle football more accessible by supporting families who may require financial assistance. All 13 clubs affiliated with the Manitoba Minor Football Association (MMFA) will benefit from a grant program funded by Bell MTS to cover registration fees associated with their tackle football program.
  • Youth must be between the ages of 8-16 years old and must be enrolled in school. 
  • The Winnipeg Football Clubwillbe selecting a minimum of three applications per club. Applications that meet the criteria will be processed on a first come first serve basis.
  • Net family household income must be under $75,00.00 a year.

KidSport provides grants of up to $500.00 per child/year to help cover the costs of registration fees so that all kids aged 18 and under in Winnipeg can play a season of sport.

  • Eligibility for one or more children is dependent on meeting the specific financial criteria as set out by Revenue Canada's Low-Income Cut-Offs (LICO) Chart.
  • Children must be between the ages of 4-18 years old to qualify.
  • Maximum amount of funding granted per application is $300.00.
