wHAT hYGIENE/Health THINGS SHOULD i KNOW?
Wrestling is a sport that involves a high amount of skin to skin contact, sweat, and occasionally blood. All wrestlers should have any skin wound, no matter how small, bandaged and taped. Fingernails should be trimmed short always. After wrestling in a practice, meet, or tournament, wrestlers should bathe as soon as possible (anti-microbial soap is recommended). All wrestling attire should be washed after each use. Athletes should NOT re-wear the same clothing they practiced in the previous training session. Please make the head coach aware of your child's team know if your child has ringworm or impetigo.
Fingernails should be kept short due to spread of skin diseases and causing injury to other wrestlers.
Sickness is prevalent in the wrestling room. Your child will more than likely get sick. Please keep your wrestler home due to any stomach issues, fevers, severe coughs or runny noses.
