The Cambridge Minor Football Association (CMFA) was established and constituted in 1991 with the Wolverines as our minor team and the Lions as our premier team. Prior to 1991 the local Cambridge Football team operated and little is known about its creation prior to the establishment of the club as an official center in 1991.

The Cambridge Wolverines colours were Dark Green & Vegas Gold.  They wore a green jersey and used the same gold helmets and pants as the Lions which made transitioning easy.  Players would "earn their paw" by qualifying for the Lions premier team and the variant of the Clemsen paw logo would be affixed to their helmet.

In 2010 a decision was made to standardize as a single team as the Cambridge Lions.  Lions colours are Red & Vegas Gold and in the 2022 season CMFA unveiled their new colour rush varsity uniforms instituting red pants over the historic vegas gold pants still worn by the minor teams.

CMFA's Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held in November/December where the financials & state of the center are disclosed to all members.  During the AGM the membership participates in a vote for the Board of Directors for the following year.

The positions are:
  • President
  • Vice President
  • Secretary
  • Treasurer
  • Director of Brand
  • Director of Concessions
  • Director of Equipment
  • Director of Fundraising
  • Director of Registration
  • Director of Special Events
  • Director of Volunteers

The positions of President, Vice-President, Secretary & Treasurer are 2yr positions and voted in alternate years to ensure congruency with the board.

President & Treasurer are voted in odd years (ie. 2019, 2021, 2023) while Vice-President & Secretary are voted in even years (ie. 2018, 2020, 2022).
