BOWLING LEAGUE RULES

The 5-Week Low-Key Bowling League Playbook

6-team, no-handicap bowling league. The focus is entirely on fun, simplicity, and raw team total score.

League Overview

  • Duration: 5 Weeks (Weeks 1–4: Regular Season | Week 5: Championship Night)
  • Teams: 6 Teams total (4 active bowlers per team each night).
  • League Play: Starts at 6:30PM sharp on Thursdays.
  • Format: No handicaps. No complex team match points. Pure total team total score.

 Roster & Substitute Rules

  • Active Lineup: Each team must field exactly 4 bowlers each night.
  • Substitutes: Each team may have 1 designated substitute on their roster.
  • Sub Policy: The sub can only bowl if one of the 4 core team members is absent.
  • If a bowler is not present, and there is no substitute, your team will forfit that bowlers score.
  • Scoring with a Sub: If a sub plays, their scores simply count toward the team’s total for that night. No penalties or average-adjustments applied Regular Season Structure (Weeks 1–4)
  • Weekly Play: Every team bowls 3 games per night.
  • Team Nightly Score: At the end of the night, add up all individual scores for the 4 active team members across all 3 games.
  • The Leaderboard: Standings are kept via a single, running Cumulative Total Score Leaderboard. Teams are ranked from 1st to 6th based entirely on their running total score over the 4 weeks.

 Championship Night (Week 5)

On the final week, the cumulative leaderboard resets to zero. Final league placements are determined by three separate, head-to-head, 3-game matches based on the Week 4 standings.

Week 5 Matchups & Lane Assignments

  • The Grand Championship (Lanes 1 & 2): Seed #1 vs. Seed #2
    • The team with the highest total total score on this night alone wins 1st Place and takes home the Grand Prize. The other team takes 2nd Place.
  • The Consolation Match (Lanes 3 & 4): Seed #3 vs. Seed #4
    • The team with the highest total total score on this night alone secures 3rd Place. The other team takes 4th Place.
  • The Placement Match (Lanes 5 & 6): Seed #5 vs. Seed #6
    • The team with the highest total total score on this night alone secures 5th Place (and bragging rights). The other team takes 6th Place.

Tiebreaker Rules

  • Regular Season Tie (Weeks 1–4): If two teams are tied in cumulative total score at the end of Week 4, the higher seed goes to the team with the single highest nightly team score from the regular season.
  • Championship Night Tie (Week 5): If a head-to-head match is tied after 3 games on Championship Night, the tie is broken by a 9th and 10th frame roll-off where all 4 active bowlers from both teams bowl those frames over again. High score wins.
