Tournament Format:
There will be two pools of four teams, with standings from the regular season determining the pools. (Pool A - 1st, 3rd, 5th & 7th; Pool B - 2nd, 4th, 6th & 8th). The format starts with a round robin in each pool, followed by a crossover game, and then playoff games.
Schedule:
- Friday: Games start at 7pm, with each team playing one game that night
- Saturday: Each team will play three games: the remaining two from the round robin and one crossover game.
- Sunday: Each team will play two games. Championship games are at 2:30pm and 4:30pm. Please note that times could change depending on weather or due to games running long. Be ready to start all games 30 minutes prior to the scheduled game time. If games are running late, there will be a notification on the WhatsApp group and at the tournament tent.
Rules & Conduct:
The rules from our regular season apply except for the following modifications:
- Games consist of 6 innings, except for the championship game for 1st and 3rd. The championship games are 7 innings. The home team will not take their bats at the bottom of the 6th if they have more runs than the away team. If Home is losing they will take their bats and the game will end after 3 outs or they score one more run to win the game.
- Games in the round robin and crossover can end in a tie, but not the Sunday Consolation, semi-finals, or championship games. Games that cannot end in a tie will go onto in innnings until there is a winner. These innings will start with a runner on second base; the runner is the last at bat.
- Sundays consolation finals @1pm, Semi-Finals @1pm, 3rd place medal game, and 1st place medal game will have an open last inning.
- Coin flip to determine home and away; the team higher in the regular season will call it.
- Standings are determined by points (Win = 2, tie=1, loss=0); ties will be broken by head-to-head match-up scores (only the teams involved) and then by run differential between teams involved in the tie. If there is still no clear winner, we will go to a coin toss.
Conduct:
- To ensure a positive experience for all, if there are any questions, concerns, or conflicts, please talk with your team rep, and they will escalate it to the BLFL board if necessary. This pertains to on and off the field situations.
- BLFL does not tolerate any negativity towards the umpires, players or BLFL executives. We appreciate everyone’s commitment to fair play. Any abusive behavior will result in the players involved being asked to leave and not return for the rest of the tournament. This will not be a discussion once the BLFL executives have made their decision.
