BRBHA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
Title
BRBHA Scholarship Program
We are proud to introduce the BRBHA Scholarship Program, offering a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating Grade 12 U18 player who exemplifies leadership and dedication both on and off the ice. This scholarship is generously sponsored by the Schouten Family.
Scholarship Overview
The scholarship recognizes an individual who leads by positive example through:
- Respectful behavior
- Hard work
- On-ice performance
- Motivating teammates to foster team cohesion
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the BRBHA Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Division: Must be in their last year of U18 eligibility within one of the following divisions:
- U18 Tier 1 BC
- U18 Tier 2 BC
- U18 Tier 3 BC
- U18 Tier 1 NBC
- U18 Tier 2 NBC
- U18 Tier 3 NBC
- Education: Grade 12 student who plans to attend a post-secondary institution with a September or January start date in the year immediately following graduation.
Application Process
- Coach Nominations
- Deadline: Monday, February 10, 2025
- Each U18 coach may nominate one individual from their team who meets the criteria.
- Nominee Essays
- Notification: Nominated individuals will be notified by email on Thursday, February 13, 2025.
- Nominees may choose to submit a 300-word essay demonstrating their leadership qualities based on the scholarship criteria.
- Essay Submission Deadline: Thursday, February 27, 2025
- Selection & Announcement
- The winner will be selected by the BRBHA Board of Directors and announced at the Bow River Bash.
Recognition
The scholarship winner will be celebrated at the Bow River Bash, highlighting their outstanding contributions to their team and community.
