So we are getting close to the start of the flag football season. I was hoping to start on April 1 and 2 at the Nepean Sportsplex but the snow has not cleared. This means we will start Saturday April 8.
You should be able to access a practice calendar in the teamlinkt app. Please download the teamlinkt app. You can also access your teamlinkt account through their website.
The start time of all practices is correct but all practices last 90 minutes not 60 minutes. It is a limitation that the app does not allow overlap of practice times which I use for the most effective use of the Sportsplex turf.
It can be chilly for April practices so please dress warmly. Football cleats are best on the turf, soccer cleats or running shoes also are fine. When we move to grass in mid-May cleats become a must.
Mouthguards are not mandatory until I hand them out to everyone. This will be by mid-April. Players can use their own mouthguards if they already have one.
Uniforms will be handed in early May.
Each age group is one big team at this point. Players will be assigned to a team of 10-12 players later in the month.
We focus on skills for the first few weeks then shift to more team play as we move into April. There is a tournament on the long weekend in May in Gatineau. Your coach may inquire about entering this tournament. It is a choice each team can make.
The regular season starts after the long weekend in May. Open (boys) play 2 games on Saturdays while girls play 2 games on Sundays. It is a brief season that concludes with championship weekend on the June 24 (Open) and June 25 (Girls).
There is a tournament in Niagara Region on July 8, 9.
