2024 Bell Warriors Flag Football

Registration opens January 1, 2024 on this site. Open divisions are open to boys and girls. Girls divisions are only open to girls. Girls are encouraged to join the girls program for maximum enjoyment.

Open: U10 (2015, 2016), U12 (2013, 2014), U14 (2011, 2012), U16 (2009,2010)

At present there isn't a U19 boys division but NCAFA wants to have one. Email rodmoors12@gmail.com if you 2006, 2007 or 2008 son is interested in U19 boys flag football.

Girls: U10 (2015, 2016), U12 (2013, 2014), U14 (2011, 2012), U16 (2009,2010), U20 (2005, 2006, 2007, 2008).

From early April to mid-May the program will run out of Minto Field at the Nepean Sportsplex on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Sessions are not mandatory but offer a great chance for skill development and learning the flag game. In early May team formation and team development become the focus. From mid-May to the end of June the program runs out of South Carleton High School. This is a big change from our previous Bell HS location. The Warriors are prepared to form some teams that have practices in the Bells Corners, Crystal Beach area (mid-May to end of June). From mid-May to end of June the open (boys) divisions play on Saturdays while girls divisions play on Sundays. Games take place all over Ottawa. During this mid-May to end of June time period our teams practice 1-2 times per week. Last year the boys generally practiced on Tuesdays and Thursdays while the girls practiced on Wednesdays and Fridays. I am going to survey parents and coaches and make a plan for practice days. I will have this done in a couple of weeks.

Open U6, U8

NCAFA or Bell will run a U6 (2019 or younger) flag football program and a U8 (2017, 2018) program. These programs will focus on learning to run, catch and throw. As the players improve in these areas informal flag football games will be added as appropriate. These programs will begin in early April and continue to the end of June. At this time there isn't a formal registration for the program. Please email rodmoors12@gmail.com if you are interested in this program.

Boys Competitive Program

NCAFA is adding a competitive tier to the Open U12 and U14 divisions. Clubs are allowed to have tryouts to form this higher level team. The Bell Warriors are looking to form competitive teams in each of these divsions. Coaches are needed. If you are interested in this program then email rodmoors12@gmail.com. Some introductory sessions could be held at South Carleton HS on Sundays (Jan - Mar) to learn about this program.

Girls Competitive Program

At this time there isn't a girls competitive program. If a division has enough teams then tiering may take place to enhance competition. Bell Warriors are looking to start a U17 competitive team that will take part in a tournament on April 27 (Ottawa). The winner of this tournament represents Ontario East at the Ontario Summer Games (London, August 1-4). Bell Warriors are looking to field teams in U14, U16, U18 and 18 that take part in the Football Ontario Club Championships (Georgetown, August 11, 12) and the National Club Championships (August 22-26, location tbd). Email rodmoors12@gmail.com if you are interested in these opportunities. Sessions could be held at South Carleton HS on Sundays (Jan - Mar) to begin preparation for these events.

Extra Flag Competition (Boys and Girls)

There is another initiative that is a bit difficult to describe but here goes. NCAFA hopes to have some extra flag days. The open division will have 2 days of Sunday competition while the girls will have 2 days of Saturday competition that will take place during the NCAFA Flag regular season (May 25-June 23) These days will feature completely open rosters. An existing NCAFA team can add new players or not. Two or more NCAFA teams can merge. NCAFA tackle players can form a team. Non-NCAFA members can form a team. Only condition: all players and coaches must register with Football Ontario or Football Quebec. Coaches will take the lead on team formation. These events hope to spur on the formation of teams that want to compete outside Ottawa at provincial and national events. More information to follow.

Volunteers Needed

As always, coaches, managers and general volunteers are needed. Email rodmoors12@gmail.com if you want to help.
