NCAFA has added OU19. It would be great for Bell Warriors to field a team.  Email rodmoors12@gmail.com if your 2006, 2007 or 2008 son is interested in OU19 boys flag football.

From early April to mid-May the program will run out of Minto Field at the Nepean Sportsplex on Saturday and Sunday mornings. Sessions are not mandatory but offer a great chance for skill development and learning the flag game. In late April team formation and team development become the focus. From mid-May to the end of June the program runs out of South Carleton High School.  From mid-May to end of June the open (boys) divisions play on Saturdays while girls divisions play on Sundays. Games take place all over Ottawa. During this mid-May to end of June time period our teams practice 1-2 times per week. Last year the boys generally practiced on Tuesdays and Thursdays while the girls practiced on Wednesdays and Fridays.

Saturdays and Sundays April 6 - May 12.  Nepean Sportsplex (turf field at back)

9 am - 10:30 am (U8, U10, U12, GU12, GU14)

10 am-11:30 am (U14, GU16).

11 am - 1 pm (U16, GU20)

Equipment: Mouthguards are required (Bell supplies them if needed). Flags are provided. When practicing on field turf, football cleats, soccer cleats and running shoes are fine. Later in year on grass fields, football cleats are best, soccer cleats are fine. Some kids enjoy having football gloves as for some they make catching easier. General athletic wear is fine but have some warm clothing as it can be chilly in April and May.

Uniforms will be handed out in early May. Until that time players should bring a white shirt and a coloured shirt to all sessions. This helps us play games.

Your son or daughter may not be officially placed on a team in teamlinkt until early May. The teamlinkt app is primarily used for the playing season which runs May 25 - June 22 for boys and May 26 - June 23 for girls.

Open U8

NCAFA or Bell will run a coed U8 (2017, 2018, 2019) program. These programs will focus on learning to run, catch and throw. As the players improve in these areas informal flag football games will be added as appropriate. The program follows the timeline of the other programs in April and early May (Nepean Sportsplex). From mid May to the end of June the program will have a maximum of two sessions per week at South Carleton High School. Parents will be consulted as to the best days for this time period (mid May to end of June).

NCAFA Tiering of Divisions

NCAFA teams, especially in OU12 and OU14, may be placed in a tier that attempts to have enjoyable games between opponents. These two divisions have the most teams and tiering is necessary and desired. Tiering is more difficult in smaller divisions (boys and girls) but will take place before or during the season as numbers and team skill levels demand. NCAFA and its member clubs decided that clubs can select for stronger teams that play tier 1. Bell Warriors are trying to form 1-2 tier 1 teams in OU12 and OU14. Players may be asked to consider playing on a Warrior tier 1 team. Joining this team is optional.

Bell Warrior Team Selection

In general, Warrior teams are made on the basis of age, friends and location. Sometimes we keep an eye on the number of strong quarterback candidates a team will have. When teams are made this way they have the best chance of staying together (and keep the same coach) for a number of years. This helps friendship and player development.

Volunteers Needed

As always, coaches, managers and general volunteers are needed especially OU14. Email rodmoors12@gmail.com if you want to help.
