Finding coaches and managers is the most important step in running our program. We can't form teams until we have coaches. Please email rodmoors12@gmail.com if you are interested. We offer extensive coach and manager training. Coaching clinic in the afternoon of April 26, 27, offense Saturday, defense Sunday. Both at Brookfield HS. Coaches let me know if you are interested. Tackle football is running some parallel activities, not sure of the timing. Talk to your tackle coach about how to approach a conflict of times. I will be speaking to the tackle coaches as well. Will give an update next week.
April 5,6,12,13 are about getting out, big focus on general skills. Starting to get teams and coaches organized so they are ready to go for April 19, 20.
Try and make as many sessions as you can. The more you attend the more skilled you get and you better your understanding of the game. Attendance is not mandatory. We are aware of many conflicts at this time of year. Do the best you can. This is true of the regular season as well. This is not competitive hockey or soccer. To repeat though, the more you attend the more you know the skills, the schemes and the rules and the more enjoyable the experience is.
April 19, 20, first of all Easter weekend so attendance is not always as good. Trying to get organized into teams. Coaches may be identifying one key weekend day for practice. Players can always attend any Saturday or Sunday session and know they will be taken care of and coached up by their coach or another coach.
April 26, 27, try to start handing out some uniforms, this will take a few weeks, some players already have uniforms from last year so don't worry if your child doesn't have one right away.
If anyone has uniform pieces from last year they don't need anymore please turn them into me and I will give them away to new players to save them some money.
At some point in May grass fields open up. Our practice field is Twin Elm Rugby Park. Coaches may start scheduling some weeknight practices in addition to the weekend practices or to replace the weekend practices. Definitely we switch to weeknight practices after the long weekend in May. Our regular season of games starts on May 24 and carries on until June 22.
OU10, OU12, OU14 play on Saturdays around Ottawa.
GU12, GU14, GU16, GU20, OU16, OU19 play on Sundays around Ottawa
actual schedule comes out in early May
Team organisation runs through the teamlinkt app. You should be up and running with a team in early May.
thats all for now, see you at the Sportsplex one of these days.
OU08 (coed) OU06 (coed)
BW also has a spring OU08 (coed) and OU06 (coed) program ready to go. In the past two years there have been some registrations but not enough to run a program. We are ready to go if we can get 10 registrants in a division. BW has set both of these registrations as free other than paying Football Canada fees. There will be a fee once we have enough registrants. The fee would be $100 and cost of a uniform ($60). These programs are internal programs that focus on fundamental football movements, development and informal games. The program would run on one weeknight and one weekend day.
