The LOW Ski Club

Founded 35+ years ago, the LOW Ski Club is a unique feature of our lake community.  Primarily a youth organization, the club has an active group of skiers ranging in age from 5 to 75.  The impressive charter of the organization is to “Teach children life skills relating to athletics, sportsmanship, exercise, health, fitness, and team dynamics, competition, and water safety.”

From beginners to advanced skiers, this group works very hard practicing and perfecting their skills, jumps, and tricks.  During the season, they dazzle the community with 2 ski shows every year.  They help commemorate America’s birthday at the LOW 4th of July Celebration, and then present a final show on Labor Day which wraps up the official ski season.  After the formal season has ended there is often a few more “fun” ski days until the weather turns cooler and everyone has to hang up their skis and ropes for another season.

While the skiers work hard, there is a group of adult volunteers who work almost as hard.   These parents and friends of the club donate their time, protective vigilance, and the use of personal boats during practice and shows.  The shows never fail to entertain. With colorful costumes, exciting formations and fun themes and music, they strive to include every skier and bring a wonderful production to the community.   If you haven’t seen them perform, it’s a must see!
