Cheerleaders
- I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all cheerleaders and coaches at every game and practice.
- I will insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment.
- I will support the coach(es) working with my child in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.
- I will be responsible for transporting my child to and from all cheer events and respecting the coach by arriving at the appointed time and picking my child up at the end of a scheduled event.
- I will remember that this activity is for the youth and not for the adults. I will do my best to make GYC enjoyable for my child.
- I will ask for my child to treat other cheerleaders and coaches with respect.
- I promise to help my child enjoy the youth sports experience by doing whatever I can such as being a respectful fan, assisting with coaches, or providing transportation.
- I will require that my child’s coach be trained in the responsibilities of being a youth cheer coach and that the coach upholds the Coaches’ Code of Ethics.
- I will be responsible for seeing that my assistant coach(es) and cheerleaders conduct themselves in a respectful manner.
- I will teach the cheerleaders on my squad the rules and fundamentals of cheer.
- I will treat each cheerleader equally and will stress the fact that cheerleading is a team sport.
- I will make sure each cheerleader understands the importance of safety when cheering and stunting and will ensure all proper steps are taken to provide the safest environment for my cheer squad.
- I will communicate with the parents and the cheerleaders any discipline needs in order to maintain an enjoyable experience for all members of my squad.
- I will make every attempt to make this experience the most enjoyable for each child.
- I will always ask myself “What is best for the child/team?” when a decision is to be made.
- I will encourage good sportsmanship from fellow players, coaches, officials, and parents at every game and practice by demonstrating good sportsmanship myself.
- I will attend every practice and game that I can and will notify my coach if I cannot.
- I will expect to receive a fair and equal amount of playing time.
- I will do my very best to listen and to learn from my coaches.
- I will treat my coaches, other players, officials, and fans with respect regardless of race, sex, creed, or ability and will expect to be treated accordingly.
- I deserve to play in an environment that is free from drugs, alcohol, and tobacco, and I expect adults to refrain from their use at all youth sports events.
- I will encourage my parents to be involved with my team in some capacity because it is important to me.
- I will remember that sports are an opportunity to learn and to have fun.
