Bylaw 18 Officials

18.1        The home team shall supply all Hockey Sask carded officials. All referees and linesmen in any SVMHL games must hold a current year’s card from the Referee’s Division of Hockey Sask.

18.3        b) U15 and U13 must use either of the following combinations:

i) Two referees and one linesman.

 ii) Two referees and two linesmen.

c) U11 and U9 must use a minimum of two officials.

18.4        Linesmen for all age divisions must be a minimum of same age division as level being officiated.

18.5        In the event that either of the scheduled referees or linesmen are unable to attend due to sickness or weather, both team representatives involved must contact the Division Coordinator to discuss whether the game shall be played.

18.7        Playoff Games

Centres should avoid assigning family members of players to officiate playoff games in U18, U15 and U13.

b) U15

 i) One referee must be an adult and the second referee must be a minimum of one age division above.

ii) Linesmen must be a minimum of one age division above.

c) U13

i) Must use a referee two age divisions above.

 ii) Linesmen must be a minimum of one age division above.

d)U11 and U9

 i) Must use a minimum of two officials.

 ii) Must use referees a minimum of two age divisions above.

 iii) Linesmen must be a minimum of one age division above.

e)              Teams are allowed to request neutral officials, except for the U9 and U11 play-off games, but the request must be made 96 hours before the start of the series and would then cover the entire series. The team making the request for neutral officials shall be responsible for the mileage costs for all officials for the entire series. The home team is responsible for game fees. Neutral officials will be assigned by the League Referee in Chief.

18.8 Neutral Referee

a)              An official that is not registered in either centre’s referee pool is considered a neutral referee. The SVMHL considers your centre’s referee pool to be any official that is registered with your community. Officials that have come from other centres to officiate a league game do not count as part of your referee pool and can be used for playoffs.

b)             An official that has no relatives playing, coaching, managing or in any other capacity with said home team is considered a neutral referee.

c)              Verification to be made through Division Coordinator via game sheets and Hockey Sask.

18.9        Failure to comply with any section of this Bylaw shall result in a $500 fine to the home team.
