Sexual Orientation
An inherent or immutable enduring emotional, romantic or sexual attraction to other people. Note: an individual’s sexual orientation is independent of their gender identity.
Gender identity
One's innermost concept of self as male, female, a blend of both or neither – how individuals perceive themselves and what they call themselves. One's gender identity can be the same or different from their sex assigned at birth.
Gender expression
External appearance of one's gender identity, usually expressed through behavior, clothing, body characteristics or voice, and which may or may not conform to socially defined behaviors and characteristics typically associated with being either masculine or feminine.
Policy
a. All members of the league have the right to self identify and express themselves without fear of consequences and with an expectation of dignity, privacy, and confidentiality
b. All members of the league have the right to play together in an atmosphere that is respectful and free from harassment and discrimination
c. It is important that all players have a sense of belonging to their team and the league. They should feel that they are supported by teammates and league owners
d. League personnel will create a culture whereby LGBTQI2S+ individuals see themselves and their lives positively reflected
e. Homophobic/transphobic language, behaviour, or discrimination towards a member of the league will not be tolerated. All allegations will be taken seriously and dealt with in a timely and effective manner
f. League personnel and players will strive to use inclusive and gender-neutral language when communicating with others on and off the court
