SEDBSL Weather Protocol

Cancellations:

Denver Parks & Recreation has a limited number of employees that maintain and check fields daily.    Therefore, they usually provide updates on closed fields later in the afternoon.   We also do a late afternoon assessment of the fields we maintain, Holly Hills and Marvin Freeman.  We will do our best to send out notices of field cancellations by 4pm via coaches and/or league generated communications.   If the games aren’t cancelled and the weather changes closer to game time, coaches can make a decision to cancel their game and should contact the league scheduler (sedbslscheduler@gmail.com) so that umpires can be notified and games can be rescheduled.

Coaches should cancel any practices on closed fields.

Denver Parks and Recreation Hotline:

To check the status of Denver Parks and Recreation fields, you can call 720-865-6978.

Make-up games:

If games are cancelled due to weather, they will primarily be rescheduled for an upcoming Friday or Sunday.   Please make all attempts to make these dates work.   If either team can’t make the rescheduled time, that game will be cancelled.

Schedule conflicts:

At times we may need to cancel or move a practice in order to get a game in.   Although we hope to minimize fields being double booked to league teams, it may happen from time to time.  If this happens, any games should be given the priority and if possible, the other team can practice on the nearby grass area or contact their league director for another option.

Coaches Mandatory Concussion Training

Colorado recently passed a 'concussion training' law. Beginning in 2012, all official SE Denver Baseball and Softball League coaches and assistant coaches are required to complete the free training. Coaches need to complete the training and provide a copy of their certification of completion to their Age Division Director prior to the start of practices.
