Jafeth is an Ottawa native and graduate of St. Patrick's High School, with a distinguished collegiate career at Carleton University, where he was a First Team All-Canadian in 2001-02, named to the CIS Tournament All-Star Team in 2002-03 and the OUA East First Team in 1999-00. He also won a national championship with the Carleton Ravens in 2003.
After his collegiate career, Maseruka played professionally in Iceland and Qatar. He has served as an Assistant Coach with the Ottawa BlackJacks in 2020 and rejoined their staff in 2025. He also served as an Assistant Coach with his former Carleton Ravens team for five years.
Beyond coaching, Maseruka has been a police officer with the Ottawa Police Service for over 12 years. He is also involved in community initiatives, co-founding Ottawa Hoopstars, a team of volunteer officers and community members who play basketball with children across the city, and the Athletes Combating Racism initiative with his mentor and former Carleton Ravens coach Dave Smart.
