2025 SMHA Nominating Committee Report
The SMHA AGM on April 10, 2025 will mark the expiration of four Director terms and with a recent resignation, the Board has a total of five Director positions available.
The open call for Director nominations to the SMHA Nominating Committee closed on March 1, 2025. At the close of nominations, the Nominating Committee had received five applications for a Director position on the Board.
In light of the five positions available and not the original four positions – there will not be a need for any voting by the members in an election process.
On behalf of the current Board of Directors & staff, thank you to the Director that is leaving the Board and SMHA is pleased to introduce the five incoming Directors for the 2025-2026 Board of Directors.
Outgoing Directors Positions:
- Blair Daviduke (2nd Vice President)
- Zenon Zemluk (U11 Chairperson)
- Kayla Shaw (Goaltending Development Chairperson)
- Clint Joyes (Referee-in-Chief)
Incoming Directors:
- 2nd Vice President - Blair Daviduke 2-year term
- U11 Chairperson - Kayla Shaw 2-year term
- Goaltending Development Chairperson - Jeff Bailey 2-year term
- Referee-in-Chief - Clint Joyes 2-year term
- U7 Chairperson - Camille Barzeele 1-year term
Through the efforts of the Nominating Committee, the five individuals listed above have been identified as excellent candidates to assume a Directors role at the conclusion of the 2025 AGM.
There will be a motion introduced at the AGM for the members to ratify the incoming Directors.
Thank you to Zenon Zemluk, outgoing SMHA Director. Zenon has been a valuable asset to the SMHA Board of Directors in his time with SMHA. ZZ always contributes to the Board business and his experience will be missed. Thank you, ZZ!
Welcome to new Director, Camille Barzeele, to the U7 Chair role. Camille will be a great addition to the SMHA Board with her many years of experience on the Renegades Board of Directors as well as on the Saskatoon AA Committee. Camille has been very involved in the Timbits U7 program over the years also in her role as a Tim Hortons store owner.
Finally, thank you to the Nominating Committee, Chaired by Rick Reimer (Past President) which operates at arms-length to the Board and without direct Board involvement. The committee has done an outstanding job in receiving all applications and vetting the potential candidates.
